UFC Fight Night: Burns vs. Brady Betting

Gilbert Burns (22-7, 15-7 UFC)

Burns came into the UFC with a record of 7-0 and he has 15 wins and seven losses in the UFC. In his last six fights, he has three wins and three losses. He defeated Stephen Thompson by unanimous decision, Neil Magny by arm-triangle choke submission, and Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision; while losing to Khamzat Chimaev by unanimous decision, Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision, and Jack Della Maddalena by KO. Burns has been a pro since 2012 and he has six wins by TKO/KO and nine by submission. He has 11 first round finishes.

Burns said this to mmaweekly.com about his upcoming fight against Brady, “I like this guy, he's 16-1, I like that fight a lot, the guy's good. He's beaten some high level competition, Kelvin Gastelum, a couple of older dudes that were very tough. He went toe-to-toe with Belal [Muhammad] until he got a finish. He's a very tough dude. I respect him, but I like the matchup. When they said his name I like it very much.”

Sean Brady (16-1, 6-1 UFC)

Brady came into the UFC with a record of 10-0 and he has six wins and one loss in the UFC. He defeated Court McGee by unanimous decision, Ismail Naurdiev by unanimous decision, Christian Aguilera by technical submission, Jake Matthews by arm-triangle choke submission, Michael Chiesa by unanimous decision, and Kelvin Gastelum by kimura submission; while losing to Belal Muhammad by TKO. Brady has been a pro since 2014 and he has three wins by TKO/KO and five by submission. He has three first round finishes.

Robert Whittaker said this to sherdog.com about the upcoming fight between Burns and Brady, “I think Gilbert Burns is one of the best MMA grapplers of all time. He is phenomenal in grappling, period. In terms of MMA grappling, I think he is one of the best of all time. The loss against Belal, he tore his shoulder cuff or whatever, it was in the first [round] he did and it was an ugly fight from then on. And he had also rushed getting into that fight; he took it like four weeks or three weeks right after… And then with the JDM fight, he was winning, until he wasn’t. But he was winning so I thought he was looking good up until that point in time. I don’t know, my money is on Burns. But crazier things have happened.”

UFC Picks

Brady is listed as almost a 2-1 favorite in UFC betting odds with the rounds listed at 3.5 and the over at -200. Burns has dropped his last two fights, so this is a huge bout for him to prove that age is not getting the best of him. Brady hasn’t always been healthy but he looked really good last time out in a submission win over Gastelum.

Both Burns and Brady are excellent on the mat so it could be that this turns into a striking battle with neither fighter wanting to go against the other one’s strength. I think this fight will go back and forth a lot with neither fighter getting a huge edge, so I think taking the rounds to go over the total is the UFC best bet.
