UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs. Magomedov Betting
Grant Dawson (19-1-1, 7-0-1 UFC)
Dawson came into the UFC with a record of 12-1 and he has seven wins, no losses, and one draw in the UFC. He defeated Julian Erosa by unanimous decision, Michael Trizano by rear-naked choke submission, Darrick Minner by rear-naked choke submission, Nad Narimani by unanimous decision, Leonardo Santos by KO, Jared Gordon by rear-naked choke submission, and Mark Madsen by rear-naked choke submission; while fighting to a draw against Ricky Glenn in October of 2021. Dawson’s only loss in his career was against Hugh Pulley by TKO in April of 2016. Dawson has been a pro since 2014 and he has four wins by TKO/KO and 13 by submission. He has seven first round finishes.
Dawson said this to mmajunkie.usatoday.com about his upcoming fight against Ismagulov, “First off I got to beat Damir. And I think a big win over him, especially a finish over him which is what I’m aiming for – I’m definitely expecting this to go three rounds, but obviously if I can get him out of there, I think that’s going to catapult me in front of a couple of people. My plan is to fight somebody in the top 10 by December. So I beat Damir, I get ranked top 12, maybe a little bit higher, and then I go for somebody in the top 10. I’m thinking Beneil Dariush. I know that the Chandler and Conor fight isn’t happening. So, if the UFC wants me to keep Chandler warm, that’ll be something that I’m very interested in as well. However, Damir has my undivided attention right now.”
Dawson also said this to mmajunkie.usatoday.com about his upcoming fight against Ismagulov, “I think I’m going to be the first person to finish Ismagulov in the octagon. I think that he’s a very good fighter, he’s a very technical fighter, he’s a very skilled fighter, and he is tough as nails. However, I think stylistically, I’m just a very bad matchup for him and I think I’m going to be the first person that finishes him.”
Damir Ismagulov (24-2, 5-1 UFC)

UFC Picks
This should be a very competitive fight and the UFC odds indicate as much with the fight basically a pick. Both of these fighters have looked good, but neither has faced the best the UFC has to offer yet. Dawson is saying that he will be able to finish Ismagulov, but I am not so sure. If this was a five-round fight then I would be tempted to take the rounds to go under, but in three rounds, I think this fight going to a decision is more likely. I’ll go over the rounds total in this fight.
