Greg Hardy (6-2, 5 KOs)
The former Dallas Cowboy has had to do ALL of his growing under an intensely bright spotlight. There was simply no choice for Hardy to do anything without a ton of scrutiny. Unsurprisingly, he blasted through tin cans in Dana White’s Contender Series and XFN, but his time inside the octagon has been a mixed bag. In his UFC debut against Allen Crowder, Hardy blew his wad and purposely DQ’d himself in a fight he was about to lose. After two quick knockouts against scrubs, the 32-year old had a UD win over Ben Sosoli overturned for using an inhaler (which is against the rules), then lost a clear a decision to a bona fide contender in Alexander Volkov. Most recently, he took another decision win against Yorgan De Castro.
It’s interesting that Hardy’s last three have gone to decision. He's 6'5", 265-pounds and an elite athlete that used to swallow up offensive lineman any given Sunday. The hope was that we’d get another Ngannou - an explosive athletic specimen that blasted through hapless opponents. But Hardy’s struggles inside the cage have made him hyper-aware of his weaknesses, to the point where he’s become an extremely conservative fighter. Obviously, the explosive killshot power is there, but it’s up to Hardy to develop a style that makes the best use of his amazing physical gifts.
Maurice Greene (9-4, 2 KOs, 5 SUBs)
After six UFC fights, Greene is the owner of a decent 4-2 record. This is not a guy with a very high ceiling, but the 34-year old could have the ability to stick around the big show for a while. Starting his UFC career with three straight wins, Greene was knocked out by Sergei Pavlovich, then submitted by Aleksei Oleinik. Each loss exposed Greene in different ways, with Pavlovich applying unwanted pressure and Oleinik taking advantage of a shallow ground game. However, Greene was able to bounce back this past June with a third-round arm triangle choke over Gian Villante.
At 6'7", Greene will always be an interesting figure because of his height. Despite being a former kickboxer, the Jackson-Wink protege has shown a knack of finding submission victories. Nobody is going to confuse him for Demian Maia, but his long limbs come in handy when locking in chokes and torquing limbs. On the feet, he uses his frame as an outfighter, racking up points with long-range combinations. While he doesn't have a lot of knockouts, Greene's strikes definitely has pop that needs to be respected.

UFC Picks
We'll bite on Greene at the current price. We know that Hardy is easily the more physically talented opponent, but we really just don't know how quickly he's putting it together. Greene's height and striking experience could cause some issues, and his sneaky submission game could easily end the night early. We think he survives a quick start from Hardy and pulls away in the later rounds.
