Former UFC lightweight Paul Felder said this to sportskeeda.com about the upcoming fight between Dern and Ribas, “At this moment I'm leaning towards Amanda Ribas. I just think she's a bit more of a versatile striker on the feet, uses more weapons. Coming off that five-round fight with Rose, she's got a lot of experience with other good strikers and people that are well-rounded. I think if it gets to the ground, she's good enough with her defense to avoid any kind of crazy submission. So I'm going for Ribas, probably by decision.”

UFC Picks
These two fought back in 2019 with Ribas winning a unanimous decision. I don’t know that the fight tells us much, as both fighters are different now. What we know about Dern is that she beats fighters she is supposed to beat and loses to the better fighters. The question is whether Ribas is the better fighter. Ribas has been splitting time between strawweight and flyweight but there is no question she is better at strawweight with a record of 5-1 while she is just 2-3 in the flyweight division. This fight is at strawweight so Ribas should have the edge. Whether that edge is enough for her to be a 2-1 favorite in UFC betting odds is questionable. Dern is a capable fighter who is looking to prove she is ready to beat the best in the division. I will have to see it first to take Dern, but I also don’t want to lay money on Ribas in a fight I think will be close.
This is a main event fight which means it will be a five-round fight. Neither of these two has shown much finishing power lately. Only two of the last nine Dern fights have ended in a finish and four of the last six Ribas wins went to a decision. I’ll lay the price and go over 4.5 rounds in this fight.
