UFC Fight Night: Dern vs. Rodriguez Betting
Mackenzie Dern (11-1, 6-1 UFC)
Dern came into the UFC with a record of 5-0 and she has six wins and one loss in the UFC. She defeated Ashley Yoder by split decision, Amanda Cooper by rear-naked choke submission, Hannah Cifers by kneebar submission, Randa Markos by armbar submission, Virna Jandiroba by unanimous decision, and Nina Nunes by armbar submission; while losing to Amanda Ribas by unanimous decision. Dern has been a pro since 2016 and she has seven wins by submission. She has six first round finishes.
Dern said this to mmajunkie.usatoday.com about her upcoming fight against Rodriguez, “I think her ground game has a lot to work on. I’ve seen her do a couple of elbows from the bottom, but more when the girl is just holding her on the ground. But I’ve seen her get up and giving her back, so I can imagine her camp is going to be a lot of takedown defense and maybe getting up using the cage to get up. I think her striking is so dangerous, but the ground has a lot to work on.
I think it’s going to be a first-round submission again this time. I definitely think I’ve found my way in MMA, kind of found what works for me. And hey, why would I want to stay too much getting punched in the face, taking all this damage, take more time recovering to get back into training when it’s clear that obviously taking it to the ground (works for me)? The girls are still getting better, the level on the ground, but I need to take advantage. That’s my strength, so I think it’s going to be a first-round submission.”
Marina Rodriguez (14-1-2, 4-1-2 UFC)
Rodriguez came into the UFC with a record of 10-0 and she has four wins, one loss, and two draws in the UFC. Rodriguez has been a pro since 2015 and she has six wins by TKO/KO and one by submission. She has four first round finishes.

UFC Picks
I have to admit that I didn’t think Dern was much more than a pretty face when she came into the UFC. She has proven me wrong, as she is 6-1 in the UFC and she is getting better. She has been working with boxing coach Jason Parillo and there is no question Dern is in excellent shape and extremely well prepared. I have respect for Rodriguez, as she always shows up with a good effort, but I think Dern is starting to prove she is on another level. I think Dern is going to be in line for a title shot soon and this fight against Rodriguez is just another chance for Dern to prove she is worthy. I’ll lay the price and take Dern to get the win.
