Dumont will face former featherweight champion De Randamie, who makes her long-awaited return on Saturday night after more than three years away. Dumont enters with a three-fight win streak and she has won six of her last seven fights. On the other side, De Randamie knocked out former champ Juliana Peña in her most recent fight, but that was back in October of 2020. She also had a win in her career over current champ Raquel Pennington.
Dumont has a gaudy record of 10-2 but I don’t really see that she has beaten anyone of note. Why is she nearly a 2-1 favorite in this fight? She has almost no power and no real submission skills. I get it that De Randamie has not fought in three years, but her skill level and experience dwarfs Dumont by a great deal.
The question in this fight is obviously whether or not De Randamie can still fight at a high level. No one really knows since she hasn’t competed since beating Pena in October of 2020. Coming off a long layoff is definitely concerning, but I think there is a big difference in terms of talent. If De Randamie has anything left she has more than enough to take out Dumont. I just don’t see anything in Dumont that wants me to take her at a price of nearly 2-1. I think all the value in this fight is on De Randamie and we are getting +143. I’ll definitely take the plus money on De Randamie and hope that she still has the skills she had a few years ago when she was one of the top female fighters in the UFC.
