It's a very important fight, which we wanted. Figueiredo is on a winning streak, he's a former champion. Because of that, this fight can be a seen as a title contender fight. UFC Picks
Where does Yan go from here? He is a former bantamweight title holder but has lost to the last three champs in the division. The losses to O’Malley and Sterling were split decisions so there is no question that Yan is still a threat to win the title again. The question is whether he will get a title shot in the near future considering he has lost three of his last four fights. Figueiredo has looked good since moving to the bantamweight class and he is now right behind Yan in the bantamweight rankings at No. 5. He has wins over Font, Garbrandt, and Vera and with a win he could vault right past Yan into a title shot.
When I look at this fight, I have to say I am shocked that Yan is such a big favorite in UFC betting odds. I don’t think there is any way he should be listed as more than a 3-1 favorite. I don’t play many underdogs in the UFC, but Figueiredo has looked really good and I give him a chance in this fight. He may not win, but I have to at least take a small play on him at odds of nearly 3-1.
