UFC Picks
Dolidze's last fight in the UFC was a unanimous decision loss to Marvin Vettori. He fought well in that fight, but it wasn't enough to beat the Italian. In the first round, we saw Dolidze hit Vettori a few times, but then he couldn't stop his opponent from taking him down, and Vettori was able to dominate on the ground. The question in this fight will be if Dolidze can handle the takedown attempts of Imavov.
It hasn’t gone that well of late for Imavov, as he had a no-contest against Chris Curtis when the two clashed heads and before that fight, Imavov was beaten by Sean Strickland. The strategy for Imavov in this fight should be to get this fight against Dolidze to the ground, but I don’t know that Imavov will be smart enough to do that. I also don’t know that he has the submission skills to dominate Dolidze like Vettori did.
Imavov is listed as a -165 favorite to win this fight and that price may be a bit too high. This fight looks like more of a pick to me, so the value would be on Dolidze. When the odds are this close it is worth considering the underdog at the value price, but this fight is still a toss-up.
What sticks out to me a little bit in this one is the rounds option. This is a main event fight and I would be surprised if the fight goes the distance. These two fighters are known as finishers, as 10 of Dolidze’s 12 wins have come by finish, while nine of the 12 wins for Imavov have been by finish. I think the best choice in this fight is to take the rounds under the total. We should have multiple rounds options and I would prefer going under 3.5 but I would also consider 2.5 if we get a good price. This is a main event fight and I think there is value on playing the rounds to go under the UFC betting total.
