UFC Picks
Did you know that Song has been in the UFC for more than six years? He has looked good for most of his UFC fights. He is 4-1 in his last five fights with the only loss coming to Sandhagen. Song has some decent power and he always gives a good effort.
Gutierrez is also a fighter who has looked good in the UFC. He is 8-1-1 in his past ten fights with the only loss coming to Pedro Munhoz in April. Gutierrez easily took out Heili Alateng in mid-October. The problem for Gutierrez is that he hasn’t faced much top competition. He lost to Munhoz and then beat Frankie Edgar in Edgar’s last fight.
If you go simply by who these two have fought then you have to take Song in this fight. He has fought Sandhagen, Ricky Simon and Marlon Vera and other solid fighters in Marlon Moraes and Cody Stamann, while Gutierrez lost to the only good fighter he has faced in Munhoz.
This is likely going to be a striking battle. Song has more power but Gutierrez has shown the ability to withstand significant strikes. The big problem I have with taking Song is the price, as he is nearly a 4-1 favorite. While I think Song will get the win, Gutierrez is not without a chance and I am sure not laying 4-1 on Song.
This should be an entertaining fight that has a decent chance to go the distance. The rounds are listed at 3.5 and although the price is a little high, I’ll still take the rounds to go over the total.
