UFC Picks
Turman is somewhat of a late replacement in this fight, as it was originally supposed to be Cirkunov taking on Makhmud Muradov but Muradov got hurt and had to pull out. Turman was supposed to fight Rodolfo Vieira at UFC 270 but that fell through. Turman fought Sam Alvey last time out and he won a weird split decision fight that was more about eye poking than anything else. Turman has lost three of his previous four fights. Cirkunov made his middleweight debut against Krzysztof Jotko last October and lost a tough split decision. Not much has gone right for Cirkunov of late, as he has dropped five of his last seven fights. One thing to note is that the last 10 wins for Cirkunov have all come by stoppage.
Cirkunov said that he learned a lot from fighting at 185 for the first time and he expects to be much better in this fight against Turman. Cirkunov said to the media that getting down to 185 was tough but now he “has the formula down.” He said to the media that he overdid it with his weight cut against Jotko and that his body just wouldn’t let him do the things in the fight he wanted to do. He said he is much better prepared this time around and he is very excited for this matchup against Turman.
The odds on this fight are basically a pick. Cirkunov would like to get this fight to the mat, but Turman has been very good in defending takedowns. Cirkunov said to the media that he does not want this fight to go to a decision and both of these fighters have finishing ability. I’ll take the UFC prop and bet this fight not to go the distance.
