UFC Picks
You probably recognize the name Usman, as Mohammed Usman is the younger brother of welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. There is no denying that Mohammed is built, as he has great physical talent. He does not, however, have the same type of ability his brother has. Pauga is unbeaten in his career and has looked good, although he doesn’t have a ton of experience. He does have a win over Markus Perez who is in the UFC, so at least he can hang his hat on that. This is an interesting contrast in styles, as Usman is simply bigger and stronger, while Pauga is quicker and more dynamic.
One of the first things that hit me about this fight, in addition to the contrast in styles, is the price. Pauga is listed as more than a 2-1 favorite to win this fight. I do lean to Pauga in this bout, but there is no way I am laying more than 2-1 on a fight that looks relatively even.
I think the best option in this fight is the rounds. These two fighters know each other really well so there won’t be any secrets when they get together. Usually when two fighters know each other’s strengths and weaknesses the fight turns into a very even affair that goes to a decision. The rounds on this fight are listed at 2.5 and the over/under is basically a pick. I think there is a good chance this fight goes to a decision, so I will take the rounds to go over the total.
