That’s the night DC became the double champ as a +140 fighter, and Derrick Lewis won a tepid decision over Francis Ngannou at +270. We’ll toot our own horn here and say that we picked Lewis as a great value in a 50-50 matchup of heavyweight knockout artists, and we also loved Anthony Pettis at +141 against Michael Chiesa.
Though UFC Fight Night: Werdum vs. Volkov had one less underdog win than UFC 226, the card was even more profitable. You would’ve won $909 with $100 bets on every underdog, as six of them pulled off upsets against four favorites. Heavyweight headliner Alexander Volkov pulled off a knockout with a +180 price and became a title contender in the process. But the reason this was the top paying card of the year was Paul Craig’s miracle upset as a +551 underdog against Magomed Ankalaev.
UFC Fight Night: Dos Santos vs. Ivanov and UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Smith both had six underdogs winning, but the payouts were minimal at $54 and $33, respectively. A lot of the fights on both cards were competitively priced, which significantly drove down the ROI. Honestly, when the odds between two fighters are that close, we just consider it a pick’em at that point.
