The United States Women’s National Team will play their final tune-up before the Women’s World Cup in France this weekend. The USWNT is the favorite to win the Women’s World Cup this summer, and they are heavy favorites in their friendly over Mexico on Sunday. Mexico failed to qualify for the event after failing to advance past the Group Stage of the CONCACAF Women’s Championship for the first time since 2000 last year, and this will be their last game for some time.
Don't miss this international women’s soccer friendly from Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey at 12 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Catch every moment of the match live on ESPN and Univision Deportes.

Odds Analysis
Unlike the rivalry between El Tri and the Stars and Stripes in men’s soccer that has really heated up over the last two decades, there is no real rivalry between the USWNT and Mexico’s women. Mexico’s women’s team has only defeated the USWNT once in their history, and that was at the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup in 2010. The USWNT has shredded Mexico aside from that blip.
The last time these teams met was at the CONCACAF Championship in October. Megan Rapinoe scored in the third minute to put the USWNT ahead, but Mexico’s defense held tight for the remainder of the first half and the Americans were only up 1-0 at halftime. Unfortunately for El Tri, the floodgates burst open in the second half after that initial success.
Julie Ertz scored shortly after the break, and the rout as on after that. Rapinoe and Alex Morgan finished with two goals apiece, while Ertz and Tobin Heath each notched a goal in a 6-0 win.
Recent Form
The Mexican women’s team is one of the top teams in the region, but they don’t typically fare well when they take on elite international teams. Mexico was hammered 4-0 by France in the run-up to last year’s CONCACAF Women’s Championship, and they are 2-1-4 in international play this year. Mexico’s wins were against Thailand and the Czech Republic, but they were outscored by a combined margin of 12-1 by Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, and New Zealand. Their most recent match was on Wednesday, where they lost 2-1 to the Football Ferns behind closed doors, but the score could have been a lot worse. New Zealand hit the crossbar three times and the post once in the match.
Over the last 12 months, the USWNT is an astounding 19-3-1. The lone loss during that stretch was to France in Le Havre back in January, and the Americans have largely crushed their competition. They have been in fine form ahead of this event, blanking Belgium, South Africa, and New Zealand by a combined score of 14-0 in their last three matches, and they want to have a proper send-off with a big win over Mexico.
Player to Watch
This is certain to be Carli Lloyd’s last World Cup. The 37-year-old has had an incredible career, and she showed that she still has it last week. Lloyd netted twice in USA’s 5-0 rout of New Zealand, and she has scored in three straight matches. She may not be a consistent starter in a line-up that is loaded with talent, but she will make her presence felt.
Free Soccer Betting Pick
I don’t think Mexico stands much of a chance here. The Americans are two tiers above Mexico in terms of international clout, and the USWNT will show it here. This will be an easy win.
