The Seattle Sounders have not gotten off to the start they wanted this season. Seattle was picked by many pundits to be the best team in the Western Conference, but instead the club finds itself at the bottom of the Western Conference along with rival Portland.
This weekend, they will travel to take on FC Dallas after a short week of rest. Dallas has not taken the field in two weeks, so they will be plenty ready for the Sounders when they come into the Big D.

Odds Analysis
Just two weeks ago, you would not have expected to see Seattle as such a large underdog coming into this one. Even though MLS teams have a massive home field advantage that is even bigger than domestic leagues in other countries, Seattle was seen as the clear favorite out West. The Sounders had many of their key players back and finished last season strong.
However, forward Jordan Morris tore his ACL in a CONCACAF Champions League match against Santa Tecla three weeks ago, and the team has lacked firepower on offense since that point.
As for Dallas, the team was a little disappointed after what happened in its MLS opener. Dallas was expected to pick up a win at home against Real Salt Lake, and the club dominated the run of play, but they ended up drawing 1-1.
You can make an argument that Dallas was lucky to get a point out of the match. Joao Plata scored for Real Salt Lake in the 25th minute, and Dallas was unable to level until late in the match. That’s when Maxi Urruti took a run at goal and saw his shot carom off a Salt Lake defender and into the back of the net for an own goal. It was fortunate, but Dallas deserved to get at least a draw.
Recent Form
While Dallas has only played one match thus far, Seattle has been busy with the CONCACAF Champions League. However, after getting past Santa Tecla, the team was unable to find similar success against CD Guadalajara.
CD Guadalajara lost to Seattle 1-0 at CenturyLink Field in the first leg of their quarterfinals tie, but the Liga MX side was too much for the Sounders in the second leg. After a scoreless first half, the floodgates opened and CD Guadalajara’s Oswaldo Alanis scored in the 50th minute to level the tie on aggregate. Javier Eduardo Lopez put the hosts ahead shortly afterwards in the 55th minute, and Jose de Jesus Godinez sealed the deal with a goal in the 80th minute.
Key Injuries
In addition to the crucial injury to Morris, there are other concerns for Seattle. Nicolas Lodeiro missed the game on Wednesday night with a midfoot sprain and is seen as questionable for this one. Meanwhile, two Sounders were hurt during the game against CD Guadalajara.
Both Will Bruin and Chad Marshall sustained head injuries in the first half and both players had to be substituted off. Bruin suffered an eye injury and may be healed again by the time this one kicks off, while Marshall took a rather nasty knock and may miss this one due to swelling.
Free Soccer Betting Pick
With all the injury issues that Seattle is dealing with, go with Dallas. Dallas have had plenty of rest and will be fresh, while Seattle must travel back from Guadalajara and then play again on Sunday. It’s likely that the Sounders will keep many of those injured players out for this one.
Major League Soccer Odds: FC Dallas 2, Seattle Sounders 1
