There is no longer a dominant figure in women’s tennis, and that means the Women’s US Open is fully up for grabs. Nine different women have won the last 12 Grand Slam titles, and each of those women will be in action at Flushing Meadows. Serena Williams is the favorite as the towering figure in the sport, but she hasn’t won a major since January 2017. She did make the final last year though and has six US Open titles in her career.
The 2019 US Open will take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. This tournament will run for the next two weeks, and matches will be on the ESPN family of networks.

Odds Analysis
Even at the age of 37, when Serena Williams is on, she is the best player in the world. She has claimed 23 Grand Slam Singles titles in her career, and her two-decade run has seen Williams win a total of 72 titles.
Although the wear and tear of the hard court can bother her knees, it’s also where she’s at her best. Her incredible serve is very difficult to return on the surface, and that should easily take her through the first week. The big worry with Serena is fatigue, but her status as the favorite makes it so where you will be able to hedge a futures bet on Williams later in the tournament.
Simona Halep has been boom or bust in recent majors. She has exited in the first round of the US Open in each of the last two years and did the same thing at the 2016 and 2017 Australian Open. However, she has also won two of the last six majors and claimed the Wimbledon title last month.
Halep pulled out of the Canadian Open and lost in the Round of 16 at the Cincinnati Masters, so she continues to be something of an enigma. There’s no doubt she has the talent to win her first US Open, but her propensity to crash out early in majors is worrisome.
Ashleigh Barty is the third favorite on the board and the only other player with odds of less than 10-1. Barty won the French Open earlier this year, and she has 10 career WTA titles. She is one of the most athletic players on tour, yet she has never made it past the fourth round of the US Open. Barty was upset in the semifinal of the Cincinnati Masters by Svetlana Kuznetsova after some poor serving last week.
There are four competitors with odds of 11-1, and the biggest name in this group is Naomi Osaka. Osaka has won the last two Grand Slam Singles on hard court, but she has not looked great since the start of the year. She has to be considered one of the favorites, but her form has not been good.
Anastasija Sevastova is an interesting longshot at 100-1. She made it to the semifinals of the US Open last year, and she knocked off Sloane Stephens and Elina Svitolina. Sevastova has been solid on hard court throughout her career, and this is one of her last chances to win.
