World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is the favorite to win this year’s Wimbledon title. Swiatek is listed at odds of +160, with no other players listed at single-digit odds. Last year’s winner Ashleigh Barty is now retired, while Wimbledon, in absolute insanity, has banned players from competing if they are from Russia or Belarus. Swiatek is coming off winning the French Open title, but she has been far more successful in her career on clay than on grass. She is just 4-4 in her career on grass, but she is definitely improving on grass and there is no doubt she is the best women’s player in the world right now. Cori Gauff and Ons Jabeur are listed as co-second choices at odds of +1200.
Let’s look at the 2022 Wimbledon event on the women’s side, Wimbledon odds and Wimbledon picks.

Top Contenders
There is Swiatek listed at odds of +160 and then everyone else. Gauff and Jabeur are listed at +1200 and Simona Halep is listed at +1600. No other player is listed at odds of less than +2300. Swiatek is just 21 years old, but she is the clear top player in the world, coming off her second French Open title. She is unbeaten in her last 35 matches. She was beaten last year in the fourth round at Wimbledon by Ons Jabeur.
Gauff couldn’t handle Swiatek at the French Open, and then lost to Jabeur on the grass in Berlin. Jabeur is definitely better on grass than on clay and she may be the one player who can beat Swiatek. Halep still has the name value but she hasn’t played well in quite some time and is probably overvalued.
Longshots
If there was ever a time to bet a longshot then it could be in this year’s Wimbeldon tournament. Swiatek is the top player, but she has shown weakness on grass. If she loses, and that is definitely possible, the tournament is wide open. Some people will look at Serena Williams at +2400, but she hasn’t played well in quite a while and her conditioning is definitely an issue.
Petra Kvitova is an interesting longshot at odds of +2500. It is usually all or nothing with Kvitova at Wimbledon. In her 13 previous appearances at Wimbledon, Kvitova has a first round loss, second round losses, but also two Wimbledon titles. She is one of the few players in the field who is capable of playing at a high level on grass.
Wimbledon Picks
This year’s Wimbledon is a Grand Slam but the field is definitely not worthy of a big event. Swiatek is without a doubt the best player in the world, but she really hasn’t played that well on grass throughout her career. Should she really be listed at odds of less than 2-1 to win on a surface that is not her best. I am definitely not taking Swiatek at odds this low. I think Jabeur is the best choice to win Wimbledon and we get her at odds of 12-1. If you want to throw some darts on longshots then this is definitely the time, as we could easily see a no-name player win this year. I think Kvitova could surprise and although not many people have heard of Beatriz Haddad Maia we could know her name after this year’s Wimbledon tournament.
