It’s hard to know if we learned anything about some of the bigger college football programs. I will say the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs looked good in their dismantling of Clemson, a team that was supposedly a contender for the ACC title and one that cost me on last week’s college football parlay bet at my Crypto sportsbook. I’ll get back to the Tigers in a moment, but did we gather info on for example Ohio State, who used a big second half to throttle Akron, though they failed to cover the massive 49-point CFB spread. The Buckeyes are a huge favorite again in Week 2 laying 38.5 points to Western Michigan. And following their win over No. 14 Clemson, the Dawgs get FCS Tennessee Tech with no early line on the board.

Week 2 College Football Parlay Card Wagers
Tulane +9.5 vs. Kansas State
Auburn -13 vs. Cal
Iowa State / Iowa OVER 34.5
With so many college football games on the slate it’s hard to pick just a few for a winning parlay. That’s why a lot of times you’ll see some of the bigger matchups included. It’s much easier to get the required data needed to make informed wagering decisions on programs that get a lot of attention. That was the case last week, though the data was flawed in the case of Clemson.
I expected the Tigers to have a better showing on offense with an experienced quarterback at the helm, but they were held to less than 200 total yards and managed just a field goal in their 34-3 loss. I did have success on the other two picks on my three-team parlay using the Big Ten as a backdrop. Penn State covered the closing line in their 34-12 win over West Virginia and USC, playing its first game as a conference member, scored a 27-20 win over LSU playing UNDER the total of 64.5. Off to Week 2 we go looking for a sweep of wins on our CFB parlay.
If not for the recent success of the Tulane program they probably don’t get a home game against Kansas State. Now that they have it they need to take advantage and the Green Wave are poised to do that. Both clubs prepped for this meeting with easy wins against overmatched opponents in Week 1. Tulane beat SE Louisiana 52-0 while K-State rolled over UT Martin 41-6.
When the teams last played two years ago, Tulane pulled off a 17-10 upset as a 13.5-point road underdog. Tulane is a threat to be the highest ranked Group of Five team and this is a chance to prove why. They may not win but their ball-control offense will keep the score down allowing for a cover.
Auburn can be a potential sleeper in the SEC in Year 2 of the Hugh Freeze era. They needed to make changes offensively and they did surrounding QB Payton Thorne with an abundance of playmakers. The season started on a positive note with Thorne throwing for 322 yards and four TDs in a 73-3 win over Alabama AM. Sure, they played a team not worthy of sharing the same field, but execution was flawless and they did everything they needed to.
Cal, meanwhile, struggled against FCS UC Davis pulling away in the second half for a 30-13 but failed to cover the 20.5-point spread. The Aggies put together several sustained drives and was in line for an upset if not for three interceptions thrown by Miles Hastings. Cal was outgained by the Aggies and will have a tougher time keeping Auburn out of the end zone.
I have to back the OVER on the ridiculously low total of 34.5 in the rivalry game between Iowa and Iowa State. The teams have traditionally played low scoring games cashing the under in each of the last five meetings. But in that span we rarely saw the teams with a competent quarterback playing at the same time. Cade McNamara threw for 251 yards and three TDs and the Hawkeyes amassed nearly 500 total yards in their 40-0 win over Illinois State. They didn’t score as many points but the Cyclones were efficient behind Rocco Brecht, who was 20 of 26 for 267 yards and two TDs in a 21-3 win over North Dakota. That’s enough offense for me to back the OVER in this game.
