With all four teams boasting a winning record the NFC North is easily the most competitive division in the NFL. We haven’t seen many division matchups yet, but Week 9 gives us a big one when the first-place Detroit Lions visit the second-place Green Bay Packers allowing for plenty of NFL same game parlay options. With five straight wins the Lions have risen to the top of the conference as well taking a 6-1 overall mark into the contest. They’ve also been good to their backers with six payouts in seven games. The Lions have won four of the last five meetings and the Bitcoin Sportsbook has them as a field goal favorite in this contest.

I backed an NFC North team in last week’s NFL same game parlay and that didn’t work out well for me. The Bears suffered a heartbreaking loss on a desperation Hail Mary giving Washington an 18-15 win. The line shifted with news of Jayden Daniels starting closing with the Bears +1. Even if the heave wasn’t successful the parlay would’ve lost since I backed the OVER 43.5. Oh well, you win some and you lose some. Pocket the loss and move on, which is easier to do with a good amount of success.
The Lions were showing off in last week’s 52-14 romp of Tennessee using all three phases of the game in the pasting. It’s something coach Dan Campbell has preached since his arrival and the contributions from the entire roster make the Lions an absolute threat. Led by Jared Goff the offense has been good. And they were efficient last week converting all five red zone trips into touchdowns. Goff threw for fewer than 100 yards and the offense amassed just 225 total yards yet they scored 52 points in three quarters
The defense forced four turnovers, special teams had several long kick returns with one going for a score on punt, and the short fields were managed expertly by Goff. Now, I can’t put the Titans in the same group as Green Bay, and playing in a hostile environment at Lambeau Field is another factor. But Detroit has been on an epic run since the middle of the 2022 season winning 26 of their last 34 regular season games.
Even without Aidan Hutchinson the last few games the Lions defense has been solid. They gave up a lot of yards to the Titans on Sunday because Tennessee ran 24 more plays. And they more than made up for it with four takeaways. Twelve of their 15 Takeaways on the season have come in the last four games where the Lions are +11 in turnover margin. Their ball-hawking defense has the second-most interceptions and forced turnovers in the NFL this season and that will play a significant role since Green Bay has coughed it up 12 times.
And the Packers could be impacted by a groin injury to Jordan Love that sidelined him for the second half of last week’s game with Jacksonville. Malik Willis entered and threw a touchdown pass while also directing a drive that led to the game-winning field goal. Willis won both starts earlier in the year when Love was shelved duet to an injury. The Packers said that if Love is able he will start. That may not be a good thing against the Lions defense. Love tossed his ninth pick of the season last week tying him with Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes for the most in the NFL. And if this game comes down to who wins the turnover battle my money is on the Lions.
Detroit values the football and has a most efficient offense. They rank among the top 5 in rush yards per play and pass yards per play, and are seventh in the NFL in third down and red zone conversions. If they don’t shoot themselves in the foot I can see them covering the spread with enough points to cash the OVER.
