We have another meaningful division matchup to kick off Week 11 when the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles tangle for NFC East supremacy on Thursday Night Football. The Eagles have dominated the series in recent years winning five of the previous six matchups, but they have just one payout in those games. And we can say the Commanders are a much better team than they were in previous years winning seven of nine games this season and leading the division. The early line at the Crypto Sportsbook is another indication of how the gap has closed. The Eagles opened at -3.5, which would be the seventh straight game they’re laying points. And the line is the shortest of any of the previous six meetings, which saw Philly a double-digit favorite three times.

Last Thursday was a good one as I hit my NFL same game parlay for the second time in three weeks. Not only did I cash a winning ticket it was one of the better NFL games this season. I backed the Bengals +6 in their AFC North tilt with Baltimore and for a while it looked like they’d get the outright W leading 21-7 in the third quarter. Lamar Jackson did MVP things, Joe Burrow was on fire, and the Ravens escaped, 35-34, stopping a 2-point conversion attempt with seconds remaining. Cincy stayed within the line and the clubs easily went OVER the total that closed a few points higher at 52.
One thing we’ve seen in recent meetings between these clubs is plenty of points. In the last three games the Eagles and Washington averaged more than 62 points in each one. The Commanders scored 31 points in both games last season and lost. Sam Howell put up big numbers in those games, but it’s the Jayden Daniels show now, and what a performance it’s been. Daniels is not only deadly accurate throwing the football he’s elusive and has rushed for more than 450 yards. Coupled with Brian Robinson, the two are major cogs in a top 5 ranked run game.
The Eagles are similar in their offensive approach. Saquon Barkley has sparked a run game that also ranks among the top 5. He established an Eagles team record by rushing for 925 yards in the team’s first eight games averaging nearly six yards a carry. Jalen Hurts has completed over 69 percent of his passes and both clubs value the football. Washington had just its fourth giveaway of the season in Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh and the Eagles were among the eight-best valuing the pigskin heading into their Week 10 game with Dallas.
Hurts has had some big games against Washington starting each of the last seven encounters and going 5-2. He threw for more than 300 yards in three of those outings, including both last season with exactly 319 passing yards in each with a total of six touchdowns without an interception. Those games came before the Eagles melted down and tiptoed to the finish line. And it was right around this time last year things started to fall apart.
I’m leaning toward the Eagles for a few reasons. One, they are playing at home where they’ve been really good winning 15 of their last 20 regular season games. Also, they are 5-0 ATS when favored by 3-points or less in that span. And I also believe the Commanders may have run out of luck. They were 4-0 in games decided by five points or less until Sunday’s 28-27 setback to the Steelers when they blew a 10-point second half lead. Both teams have been average defensively and I can see Daniels and Hurts putting on a show with the help of their strong cast of play-makers.
