Tennis Betting Online
There is tennis betting, and then there is Grand Slam tennis betting. The Grand Slam of tennis consists of the four biggest events of the calendar year. The Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open are the major events on the tennis calendar.
Gambling activity on the Grand Slam tournaments dwarfs the rest of the scheduled events combined. Each Grand Slam tournament has its unique characteristics, traditions, and personality.
Gamblers and fans will often hear the term “Grand Slam” when referring to past winners or current stats. There are different contexts for the term.
The ultimate Grand Slam is winning all four tournaments in the same calendar year. Only Don Budge (1938), Rod Laver (1962), and Rod Laver (1969) have pulled off that ultimate triumph.
Novak Djokovic did the next best thing by winning the 2015-16 non-calendar year Grand Slam.
Then there is the career Grand Slam consisting of winning at each venue at least once in a career. Fred Perry, Don Budge, Rod Laver, Roy Emerson, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic have earned the distinction.
On the women’s side, Maureen Connolly (1953), Margaret Court (1970), and Steffi Graff (1988) have the only calendar-year Grand Slam titles.
Martina Navratilova (1983-84), Steffi Graf (1993-94), Serena Williams (2002-2003 & 2014-15) have non-calendar year Grand Slam titles.
The women have a distinguished list of career Grand Slam winners. Maureen Connolly, Doris Hart, Shirley Fry Irvin, Margaret Court, Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Serena Williams, and Maria Sharapova are on that hallowed list.

Grand Slam Greats
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic had all won 20 Grand Slam singles prior to last year. However, Nadal is now the most successful player in the Open Era of men’s tennis after winning two majors compared to just one for Djokovic last year.
These two stars will spend the next few years duking it out for the title of greatest men’s player ever after Federer retired at the end of the year.
Pete Sampras follows with 14 titles, and then Roy Emerson, an Australian hero from the 1960s, checks in with 12. Another Aussie from that era, Rod Laver, has 11 Grand Slam championships. Bjorn Borg took 11 Grand Slams with his famed wooden racket, followed by Bill Tilden with ten.
Four players have won all four Grand Slam tournaments in the same year. Don Budge was the first in 1938, and then Rod Laver did it twice in 1962 and 1969 for a sporting achievement that ranks among the greatest ever. Novak Djokovic is the only other player to win each tournament consecutively, although not in a calendar year in 2015-16.
On the women’s side, Margaret Court maintained Australia’s dominance of the sport in the 1960s. She owns a record 24 Grand Slam titles. Serena Williams is one behind with 23 Grand Slam championships. Steffi Graf is next with 22 Grand Slam titles.
Following Graf is a tie between Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova at 18. And then Billie Jean King has 12 Grand Slam championships.
Three women have won a calendar-year Grand Slam. Maureen Connolly in 1953, Margaret Court in 1970, and Steffi Graf in 1988.
Non-calendar Grand Slams were won by Martina Navratilova in 1983-84, Steffi Graf in 1993-94, and Serena Williams in 2002-03 and 2014-15.
Djokovic’s 2021 Heartbreak
In 2021, Novak Djokovic was one win away from the impossible dream of a calendar Grand Slam. All he had to do was defeat Daniil Medvedev in the US Open Final to earn immortality. Djokovic was the overwhelming betting favorite. But as is often the case, when the betting public loads up on one side, they are cleaned out by the house.
Daniil Medvedev stunned the tennis world and denied Novak Djokovic his quest for a calendar grand slam after a near-flawless display to win the US Open title.
Medvedev has become the first player of his generation to defeat one of the 'Big Three' as he put Djokovic away 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in a commanding display from the Russian.
Djokovic headed into the final, looking to achieve what no man had since Rod Laver in 1969.
But, Medvedev had other plans and revenged his defeat from earlier in the year at the Australian Open with a near perfect match.
For the fifth-consecutive match at Flushing Meadows, the World No.1 lost the opening set against Daniil Medvedev in the Sunday final.
Things then took an ugly turn early in the second set when Djokovic missed a golden chance to break Medvedev.
The Russian was serving on break point when music started playing over the Arthur Ashe Stadium speakers, meaning he got a slight reprieve by receiving a first serve again rather than having to serve a second.
It ultimately did the trick as Medvedev managed to hold for 2-2.
Djokovic was left seething after missing the chance to break, angrily smashing his racquet into the court three times and destroying it.
Medvedev finally showed some nerves when serving for the match.
The Russian had to wait for the crowd to stop interrupting as he held two championship points, but Medvedev served two double faults.
Following Djokovic's break, Medvedev had another chance to serve for the match and held on to claim his first grand slam title.
While Djokovic couldn't hold back his disappointment, he graciously hugged Medvedev at the net as the Russian enjoyed his crowning moment.
With the victory, Medvedev also shut down Djokovic's chance to overtake his rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, for the all-time men's record of Grand Slam singles titles. Djokovic, the youngest of the 'Big Three,' had won eight of his 20 major championships in the previous three years. Djokovic did, however, tie Federer for the most Grand Slam final appearances in history with 31.
Medvedev jumped out to a dominant start in the championship match. His first and second serves were incredible, and the only time Djokovic, one of the world's best returners, managed to break him came at 5-3 in the third set. Medvedev seemingly got to every ball, which left Djokovic scrambling to pick up the pieces after a few drop shots Medvedev managed to reach. Djokovic, perhaps fatigued or stunned by nerves, seemed slow at the outset of the match. It appeared that Medvedev had done some serious prep after the pair's last meeting at the Australian Open earlier this year in February, where Djokovic dominated.
