How to play Baccarat
Baccarat is a casino game that originated in Italy. It was later introduced in France, where it became popular quite quickly.
Baccarat is a simple casino game in which the players bet on one of three possible outcomes; the player wins the hand, the banker wins the hand or the hands tie. In this case the terms "player" and "banker" do not necessarily refer to the player and the house or dealer, they simply designate two different hands for the player to choose a winner. This is a game that does not require great amounts of skill, as the player can bet any of the three possibilities and the dealer is the one responsible for keeping track of the sums of the hands.
The winning hand is that which comes closer to 9 when the values of the cards are added. Each hand consists of two cards that are added. All cards from 2 through 9 are played at face value. Aces are played with a value of 1; and 10, Jacks, Queens and Kings are worth 0. When the value of the two cards exceeds 10, the first number is dropped, for example, a hand consisting of 7 & 8 is worth 5 (7+8=15, the one is dropped).
The name baccarat is actually used to name a hand with a value of 0, the worst possible hand in the game.
