History could be made in the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, as Sistercharlie looks to become the first horse to win the race in back-to-back years. Sistercharlie for trainer Chad Brown is expected to be the solid post time favorite. She has 10 wins in 14 starts including wins in the Beverly D and the Flower Bowl this year. She is going to be a single on a lot of pick 4 and pick 6 tickets.
If Sistercharlie doesn’t win this race then there are at least six other horses to consider. Iridessa for trainer Joseph O’Brien will probably go off as the second choice in the betting odds. The horse won the Matron Stakes and the Pretty Polly.
Deirdre for trainer Mitsuru Hashida is a six-year old horse from Japan who won the Nassau Stakes. She has started 26 times and won eight races.
Fleeting for trainer Aidan O’Brien has only two wins in 11 starts, but she was competitive against Sistercharlie in the Beverly D.
Mrs. Sippy for trainer Graham Motion has three wins in 11 starts and she was second to Sistercharlie in the Flower Bowl.
Vasilika for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer has been excellent at Santa Anita, but the question is whether Hollendorfer will be allowed to race his horses at the track.
Villa Marina for trainer Carlos Laffon-Parias has three wins in eight starts including a win in the Prix de L’Opera.
Longshots in this race include Castley Lady, Fanny Logan, Mirth, Silva.
