U.S. Presidential Election 2024: Republican Party Betting
If it seems that former President Donald Trump is in the news every day, he is. Trump has plenty of legal issues to deal with, many of which are simply contrived lawsuits drummed up by people out to get him, but Trump is the current Republican nominee for the 2024 Presidential election. The Republican Party is a solid favorite against the Democratic Party to win the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. Trump won the Republican nomination but there is still a chance that somehow Trump will be kept off the ballot in November. Trump has had numerous legal issues to deal with and he has also survived an assassination attempt. If Trump is not allowed to run then it could be that Republican Vice President nominee J.D. Vance gets the bid. Vance was announced as Trump’s running mate in July.

2024 Republican Candidates
Donald Trump
The former President announced his campaign for the Republican nomination on November 15th of 2022 and he won the Republican nomination for the 2024 U.S. Presidential election. Trump has a very large following in the Republican Party, but with Trump it is pretty much all or nothing. He is either loved or hated and that goes even for many in his own party. It is really unusual for a nominee to be hated even within his own party but Trump pulls it off. There is no question that Trump is intelligent and that is policies were excellent for America, but his brash style, huge ego and disruption of the establishment in Washington made him a hated man by many on both sides of the aisle. Can Trump find enough support to win the 2024 U.S. Presidential election and the even bigger question is, can he get a fair election?
J.D. Vance
Vance has been serving as a United States senator from the state of Ohio since 2023. He was chosen as the Republican nominee for Vice President by former President Donald Trump. It has been a meteoric rise for Vance who wasn’t even on anyone’s radar a couple of years ago. Vance won a Republican primary in Ohio in May of 2022 and he won the general election against Democrat Tim Ryan in November of 2022. He is the first U.S. senator from the state of Ohio without previous political experience since John Glenn.
Nikki Haley
It was thought that the main challenger to Trump in the Republican primary would be Ron DeSantis but DeSantis actually bowed out of the race before Haley did. Haley was the governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 and she served as the 29th U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from January 2017 to December 2018. It is unlikely that anyone other than Trump will be the Republican nominee but it is not impossible that Trump will have to withdraw. Democrats are doing everything they can to find a way to prevent Trump from running and maybe Haley gets a look if Trump is forced to withdraw.
Trump Leads Biden in Swing States
The most recent survey of swing states for the 2024 U.S. Presidential election shows Trump leading Biden. The six states that are considered swing states are Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. The latest polls show Trump’s biggest lead in Arizona and Georgia, two states that Biden narrowly won in 2020. Trump also leads Biden in Wisconsin and Nevada, two more states that Biden won in 2020. The race is close in Pennsylvania but most polls show Trump with a slight edge over Biden. Pennsylvania is a key state, as it has 20 electoral votes and it was a state that Biden won in 2020. The race in Michigan is virtually a toss-up with Trump leading by a point or less in most polls. Keep in mind that four years ago if Trump had beaten Biden in Georgia, Wisconsin and Arizona the race would have been tied, so those three states are very important for Trump and if he can win Pennsylvania or Michigan, it would probably mean he wins the 2024 Presidential election.
Republican Greats of the Past
World War II General Dwight D. Eisenhower broke the Democrats 16-year lock on the White House with landslide wins in 1952 and 1956. “I Like Ike” was a slogan that reflected the roaring economic growth and peace of the 1950’s.
Richard Nixon faced near Civil War when he was sworn in as President in 1969. He met the challenge by ending the Viet Nam War, abolishing the draft, making peace with China and the Soviet Union and won a record landslide in 1972. Additionally, he desegregated American schools and flooded billions into black colleges at a time when it was desperately needed.
Ronald Reagan took over an economy that was near depression in 1981 and left a thriving powerhouse to his successor, George H.W. Bush eight years later. Reagan also brought down the Berlin Wall and Soviet Union without firing a single shot. It was a command performance worthy of Mount Rushmore.
Donald Trump shocked the world in 2016 when he won the U.S. Presidential Election. He likely would have won the 2020 election as well if not for election interference by major media outlets and likely voter fraud.
