The Kentucky Wildcats have become the No. 1 team in the country following an impressive start to the season. Kentucky has absolutely dominated its opponents this season, shredding everyone by at least 21 points, including a Michigan State team that was considered to be one of the best in the country. After celebrating Thanksgiving at home, the Wildcats will travel to the beautiful Bahamas in order to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.... 

The VCU Rams are now entering their second season under Will Wade and are still playing the HAVOC defense that took the Rams to the Final Four. VCU enters the season with some major questions though following the departures of Briante Weber and Treveon Graham and there may be some growing pains this season. A young Rams team will be put to the test when it heads to the islands for Thanksgiving to face the Baylor Bears.... 

It’s going to be a tough year in Baton Rouge without Ben Simmons. The LSU Tigers couldn’t get to the postseason last year even though they had the eventual No. 1 pick in the draft. Now they have to rely on the leftovers from that squad to fulfill their tournament hopes this year. They’ve gotten off to an undefeated start, but will face their first real test of this young season when they face the Wichita State Shockers.... 

The No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers won’t be ranked in the Top Ten when the next AP poll comes out following a loss to Creighton earlier in the week. However, Greg Gard’s team shouldn’t fall far in the rankings and has gotten right back on track with a win against Chicago State on Thursday night. When the Badgers travel to Maui for one of the biggest tournaments around, they will need to bring their A-game. Their first test will come at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers.... 

It’s been a rough start to the season for the Georgetown Hoyas. The Hoyas are sitting at 1-2 after a stunning loss as a 22-point favorite to Arkansas State on Thursday night, a game in which they were down by 19 at the end of the first half. Things might not improve for Georgetown for a while as the Hoyas now head to the Maui Invitational where they will take on some of the best teams in the nation. Their first opponent will be last year’s PAC-12 champion, the Oregon Ducks.... 

The Michigan Wolverines have made the NCAA Tournament in five of the last six seasons and are looking to return to the Big Dance once again. They have a difficult non-conference schedule that will test them, but if they can register some key wins that would give the Wolverines a big boost when it comes to their resume. Michigan’s first big game will come this week in historic Madison Square Garden when the Wolverines take on the Marquette Golden Eagles.... 

The Maui Invitational always brings together the best college basketball teams to beautiful Hawaii and this year is no different. The Chaminade Silverswords have been the hosts of the tournament every season since the tournament began and although they aren’t a Division I school, they have pulled off upsets before. In the last game on the first day of the tournament, Chaminade will face the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels in what is sure to be an interesting affair.... 

The Duke Blue Devils have looked every bit like the No. 1 team in the land through their first two games of the season. Duke has dominated two lesser foes but will face a real test on Tuesday night when it faces the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas is in danger of falling to 0-2 after a season-opening loss to Indiana and desperately needs this one. Whoever wins will get a huge resume booster for when the NCAA Tournament comes around.... 

Dana Altman celebrated his Veterans Day in a big way before the Oregon Ducks’ season opener. The Ducks came into the season with a No. 5 ranking, their highest ranking ever in the Coaches Poll, and after having made four straight NCAA Tournaments Altman was rewarded with a lucrative contract extension. He and the Ducks have their sights set on the school’s first Final Four appearance in more than 75 years, but will go on the road for their first test of the young season when they take on the Baylor Bears.This war on the floor will go down Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Ferrell Center. Archie Miller has taken the Dayton Flyers dancing for three straight seasons and will look to make it four this year. Dayton is just outside the Top 25 at the start of the season, but will break into the rankings soon enough if it keeps winning thanks to a difficult slate of non-conference games. That tough schedule starts this Tuesday during ESPN’s 24-hour slate of basketball games when the Flyers travel south to face the Alabama Crimson Tide.This war on the floor will go down Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at 1:15 p.m. ET at Coleman Coliseum. The No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats never rebuild, just reload. John Calipari has Kentucky in a fine position once again this season with a super-talented group of freshmen paired with a fine sophomore in Isaiah Briscoe. Briscoe has given this group the leadership it needs through Kentucky’s first two games and he will play an even bigger role now that the Wildcats are facing a name opponent. He’ll be one of the players to watch when Kentucky takes on the Michigan State Spartans.... 

For the first time ever, the Winthrop Eagles and Manhattan Jaspers will square off on Tuesday morning. These teams have had roles as mid-major darlings in the NCAA Tournament in the past, but lately neither has been able to break through. However, Winthrop was close once again last season in HC Pat Kelsey’s fourth season and will look to make that long awaited return trip to the dance when this season tips off.... 

The College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon has become a staple of the early part of college basketball season. Hoops junkies get their fill of the sport for a full 24 hours as everything else takes a back seat to the college game. The midnight game will be one of the better games on the slate when the San Diego State Aztecs take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs. These two teams are consistently among the best mid-majors in the country and considered favorites to win their conferences again this year.... 

The Niagara Purple Eagles and Hartford Hawks were both pretty awful last year. The two teams combined for 17 wins and stunk it up all throughout their seasons. Since these teams were so awful, both jumped at the chance to be on ESPN’s 24 hour coverage of college hoops, even at the worst time slot possible. It will likely be the only time you see either of these two teams all season so if you are interested in either side, now’s the time to watch.... 

24 hours of basketball. Hoops junkies everywhere are going to get their fill of college basketball around the clock next week when ESPN launches its annual 24 hours straight of coverage. This may seem a bit silly to non-sports fans, but it gives mid-majors a chance to have the spotlight to themselves and degenerates more games to bet. The Green Bay Phoenix will take on the Pacific Tigers in one of the late-night games that will be sure to entertain.... 

Since leaving the WAC for the Big West, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors have experienced a resurgence. Their record has improved in each of the following four seasons and last year they won their first tournament game ever by knocking off the Cal Bears as a No. 13 seed. This season, Hawaii is barred from postseason play sadly, but still looking to make some noise where it can. One of its first big chances will be when it takes on the Florida Atlantic Owls in what will be one of a handful of nationally televised games this season....

The No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks will be looking to prove that they are one of the best teams in the country when they face the No. 11 Indiana Hoosiers on Veteran’s Day. This will be the second game of a doubleheader featuring four of the most storied college basketball institutions in the country. They are competing in Hawaii in the Armed Forces Classic and any win here will definitely help out when it comes to seeding for the NCAA Tournament.... 

The Villanova Wildcats picked a great time to come up with their most impressive game of the season and one of the most impressive games in the history of the Final Four.They'll need to be at their best yet again if they want to claim the National Championship on Monday against the North Carolina Tar Heels.... 

Geno Auriemma said it best when he said his Connecticut Huskies cannot be beaten by anyone in the nation when they're at their best. They haven't played a close game yet in the NCAA Tournament, and they haven't had a game decided by fewer than 10 points this year. The Syracuse Orange have made a tremendously improbable run to reach this point, but they pretty much know they're going to finish as the runners up this year. This one still has to be played on Tuesday night though, and we've seen stranger things happen than an upset of this magnitude.... 

At the outset of the NCAA Tournament, most were in agreement that the North Carolina Tar Heels were the team to beat. If Roy Williams' team was playing at its best, no one was supposed to be able to beat it.... 

The Final Four was expected to be a heck of a lot more competitive than it turned out to be, but the North Carolina Tar Heels and Villanova Wildcats won't mind the lack of drama. Live bettors will probably find the sledding a little tougher in Monday's National Championship Game.... 

The six days between the conclusion of the Elite Eight and the start of the Final Four generally feels like an eternity, and this year is no exception. That said, it gives bettors all the time in the world to make up their mind about who to back in the two biggest games of the college hoops season, and live movement is often interesting to watch.... 

The NIT title will be handed out on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden in what could be a fantastic game between the Valparaiso Crusaders and the George Washington Colonials.... 

The story of the George Washington Colonials is a good one and is why the secondary college basketball tournaments are good for the sport. Instead of going into the offseason thinking about all of the failures down the stretch that led G-Dub to miss the NCAA Tournament, it can go out on the high of having won the NIT.

Of course, the job isn't done yet, and the Colonials are going to be underdogs against the Valparaiso Crusaders in the finale of this tournament at Madison Square Garden....
