2024 Florida State Seminoles Season Win Total Odds and Pick

2024 Florida State Seminoles Season Win Total Betting

Along with the nauseating season-ending injury incurred by Jordan Travis against a cream puff opponent he likely shouldn’t have taken a single snap against late in the season, a number of things went against the Florida State Seminoles, ultimately preventing the program from making its second appearance in the College Football Playoff. Either way, the selection committee snubbed the reigning ACC champs in the most distasteful of ways. The redemption tour begins in earnest when the Noles open their 2024 College Football betting campaign against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t already have my popcorn ready to take in the show in all its magical splendor. Though Mike Norvell only returns eight starters from last year’s electric squad, the new crop of playmakers and transfer portal additions still find FSU installed +283 favorites at the online sportsbook to repeat as ACC champs. Florida State failed to live up to oddsmakers’ expectations in the first two seasons under the current coaching staff, but has exceeded them each of the last two years—winning nine games against a 6.5-game win total in 2022 and racking up 12 wins against a 9.5-game line last season. Linemakers have hung another 9.5-game target for 2024 as the program enters its fifth year under Norvell’s watch; I think it’s short!

Florida State Over 9.5 Wins -110

Florida State Under 9.5 Wins -110

A Case for the Over: As potent the Seminoles' offense proved to be, it was the defense that ultimately stirred the collective drink. The unit ranked No. 29 overall, conceding just under 332 yards per game, while allowing a mere 19.3 points per game (No. 19). Granted, the ACC was noticeably down, with Clemson, Miami, and Virginia Tech all failing to live up to expectations. That being said, not a single opponent hit the 30-point mark against this defense until Georgia took a watered-down version of it behind the woodshed in the Orange Bowl. This year’s front line loses Jared Verse and Braden Fiske to the NFL, but Patrick Payton—fresh off a 7-sack, 14.5-tackle-for-loss campaign—returns, along with newcomer Marvin Jones Jr., who transferred from Athens to Tallahassee via the portal. The linebacker corps loses its two top tacklers but will adopt a next-man-up mentality, with the program flush with talent. The secondary will enter the season as the strength of the defense, with CB Fentrell Cypress looking to build upon a 40-tackle, 8-pass-breakup season, while S Shyheim Brown contributed 53 tackles himself to build his NFL resume. Then there’s the heaping load of new faces that college football bettors will become familiar with throughout the 12-game regular season schedule. Bottom line, FSU was rock solid defensively a season ago, but might be even better in 2024!

A Case for the Under: A heaping load of talent will no longer be lining up for the Noles’ offense when they take to the gridiron this season, especially in the wide receiver corps, where Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, and Jaheim Bell are now all playing on Sundays. Let's not forget about Trey Benson, who is currently running as the RB2 for the Arizona Cardinals. While it’s going to be tough for Florida State to replace all those playmakers, Norvell and his staff have stacked the offensive side of the ball with some of the best talent in the nation, which should make for a seamless transition; in time. However, the success or failure of the offense will ultimately come down to the portal acquisition of D.J. Uiagalelei, who will line up under center in what feels like his tenth year of eligibility. All kidding aside, it’s only been four seasons for the Riverside, CA native, whose time at the collegiate level can only be considered rocky at best. Failing to live up to expectations at Clemson, the field general enters 2024 off arguably his best campaign after running the show in Corvallis for the Oregon State Beavers. CFB bettors already saw what the Seminole offense looked like without a competent field general at the tail end of last season. It’ll likely be more of the same if the veteran fails to gel with the cast laid before him in his third stop. The success, or lack thereof, of the 2024-25 Florida State Seminoles will ultimately come down to No. 5 and how he deals with the pressure of once again leading a team worthy of being under the national championship spotlight.

Taking a look at the season-long and “Game of the Year” betting lines currently on the board at the online sportsbook, FSU is an underdog only once—during the Week 12 visit to South Bend, where they’ll square off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. They’re favored by more than a field goal at home against Clemson and are also road favorites against Miami. As disappointing as it may be, the ACC as a whole is still a weak conference. There are no other heavyweights that have recruited and excelled in the transfer portal like the Seminoles under the current leadership. With four of the five games following the matchup with the Ramblin’ Wreck taking place in the comforts of Doak Campbell Stadium, the new faces on the roster will have ample time to mesh, allowing them to hit their stride once the schedule toughens up. Either way, FSU is likely good enough to repeat as conference champs and put up some crooked numbers along the way. The defense will be outstanding, and the offense will be good enough to support it. This time, there will be no snub by the selection committee, and Florida State will find themselves back in the CFP.
