2024 Washington Huskies Season Win Total Odds and Pick

2024 Washington Huskies Season Win Total Betting

After enduring two difficult seasons under Jimmy Lake, Washington Huskies fans were treated to two outstanding campaigns under Kalen DeBoer, with the most recent culminating in the program’s first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship. Although the Huskies were ultimately defeated by Michigan, the 2024-25 season is one the folks in Seattle won’t soon forget. However, just as quickly as the turnaround happened, it ended just as fast. DeBoer is now coaching Alabama, and most of the key players from that runner-up team have moved on, leaving the Huskies with just two returning starters for the upcoming College Football betting season. Despite the significant roster turnover, oddsmakers have set Washington’s win total odds at 6.5, which might surprise some CFB bettors unaware of the new head coach, Jedd Fisch. Fisch, who previously resurrected the Arizona Wildcats program, will now lead the Huskies as they transition to the Big Ten. But is a seven-win season with a completely retooled roster too tall an ask? Let’s dig in and see where the best betting opportunities lie for Washington’s swan song after one of the most memorable seasons in the program’s history.

Washington Over 6.5 Wins +115

Washington Under 6.5 Wins -135

A Case for the Over: Michael Penix Jr., Rome Odunze, Ja’Lynn Polk, Jalen McMillan, and Dillon Johnson were the core of Washington’s high-powered offense, and now all five will be suiting up on Sunday’s to play for their respective NFL team. That’s a massive amount of production to lose, making it a challenge to expect the Huskies' offense to maintain its effectiveness, let alone flourish next season. However, Fisch brought his offensive coordinator, Brennan Carroll, from Arizona, where he helped transform the Wildcats' attack over the last three seasons. To ease the transition, Washington added Will Rogers from Mississippi State as their new quarterback. Though Rogers didn’t put up flashy numbers in Starkville, he still amassed over 12,000 passing yards and 94 touchdowns while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes. Most importantly, he demonstrated excellent game management by throwing just 28 interceptions in his career. While this year’s Huskies offense won’t mirror last season’s explosive aerial attack, it will still be efficient in moving the chains and protecting the football. The program also utilized the transfer portal to address key needs on the offensive line and at wide receiver. If you’re thinking this will be one of the weaker offenses in the Big Ten, it’s time to reconsider.

A Case for the Under: Fisch has proven himself a miracle worker, but it took time to change the identity of the football program in Tucson. While he’s working with several unproven holdovers that have experienced success as role players—making the situation less dire than it was in Tucson—there's still significant work to be done, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Last season, Washington's defense struggled mightily, ranking No. 97 overall and allowing over 406 yards per game, with much of that damage coming through the air (No. 119). Rebuilding the Huskies’ defensive identity now falls to Stephen Belichick, whom Seattle fans hope will follow in his father’s legendary footsteps. The Huskies struggled to generate a pass rush last season, leaving their secondary vulnerable to opposing offenses. The transfer portal giveth and taketh away in the secondary, while the linebacker corps returns the teams only two starters from a year ago. The defensive line, however, has been bolstered by an infusion of talent from Arizona, who followed their head coach north. The coaching staff is capable of molding these new faces into a decent defensive unit, but it’s going to take time. Unfortunately, The front half of the schedule is where a majority of the winnable games reside, so time is something over bettors won’t have to bank on.

It’s quite possible the Huskies could start the season with five straight wins against Weber State, Eastern Michigan, Washington State, Northwestern, and Rutgers. Both the Wildcats and Scarlet Knights are expected to struggle in the Big Ten this season. If Washington goes 5-0 or even 4-1 in that stretch, it would set them up nicely to surpass their 6.5-game win total, despite a brutal schedule to close the year: Michigan, @Iowa, @Indiana, USC, @Penn State, UCLA, and @Oregon. The key isn’t just the opponents but how well the team adapts to the new philosophies being implemented by the coaching staff on both sides of the ball. Once the meat of the schedule arrives, I’m confident Fisch and his staff will have the team fully bought in. With that belief, I’m going against the market’s initial bearish outlook—the win total opened at 7.5—and betting on the Huskies to hit the over at a favorable plus-money return.
