Miami (OH) Redhawks vs. Central Michigan Chippewas -4.5, Noon ET, ESPN2
Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions, will host the MAC Championship Game between Miami (OH) and Central Michigan. In his first season as Central Michigan head coach Jim McElwain has produced a division champion and one of the most remarkable turnarounds of the year. Chuck Martin has needed five seasons to build Miami and has done a methodical yet masterful job. Central Michigan has lost just one of their last eight to the spread in MAC games and was 9-3 on the board this year. Miami split their 12 games to the odds. The difference here could be McElwain’s 25th in the nation ranked offense.
Louisiana Ragin Cajuns vs. Appalachian State Mountaineers -3.5, Saturday, Noon ET, ESPN
Appalachian State will host the Sun Belt Championship Game at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC. The Mountaineers have been a good wagering value this year with eight payouts in 12 games. In the same way the Cajuns came away with the cash in nine out of 12 matchups. Louisiana has been a tremendous value on the road with just one loss to the line in their last nine in that situation. In a matchup of the two best and most well-balanced teams in the Sun Belt the underdog looks like the smart move, especially in a game that should be close and go down to the wire.
UAB Blazers vs. Florida Atlantic Owls -7.5, Saturday, 1:30 p.m. ET, CBSSN
FAU will host the Conference UISA Championship Game at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida. The Owls will draw plenty of public money due to the name recognition and popularity of head coach Lane Kiffin with the general gambling public. But a closer look reveals that Alabama Birmingham has the nation’s fifth ranked total defense. Sloppy Florida Atlantic ranks 44th for points allowed and should leave the back door open for a Blazers cover. UAB has come away with the cash in seven of their last 11 away games while FAU has been in the red as a host with only four payouts in their last 11 home games.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors vs. Boise State Broncos -15.5, 4 p.m. ET, ESPN
Boise State will host the Mountain West Conference Championship Game at Albertson Stadium in Boise, Idaho. As is usually the case Hawaii, they are half a team. The Rainbow Warriors rank 11th in the nation for total offense but 98th for points allowed. That does not bode well for a matchup at Boise State against a Broncos offense ranked 13th in the country for scoring. Additionally, the Broncos have covered six of their last eight at Albertson Stadium, eight of their last 11 against Mountain West Conference opponents, and six straight in their head to head series with Hawaii.
Championship Week CFB Wise Guy Picks: Central Michigan Chippewas, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, UAB Blazers, and Boise State Broncos.
