College Football Betting – Top 25 Odds and Matchups

A busy Week 1 in college football with ranked teams playing on Sunday and Monday pushed the first top-25 poll back. There won’t be much change from the preseason rankings as all teams situated in the top-25 won except for Oregon, which lost a heartbreaker to Auburn in the weekend’s only contest between ranked teams. The Ducks trailed just once in that game and that was when Auburn scored the game-winning touchdown with nine seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Notre Dame became the last ranked team to win in Week 1, pulling away from a stubborn Louisville squad for a 35-17 win on Monday night. The ninth-ranked Irish take the week off and along with No. 21 Iowa State, they are the only ranked teams not scheduled to play in Week 2. College football fans are in for a treat, however, with a pair of scintillating matchups between ranked foes. The first game of the season between top-10 teams takes place in Austin with the Texas Longhorns hosting the LSU Tigers, who are a 5-point road favorite.

No. 1 Clemson had little trouble with Georgia Tech, scoring early and often in its 52-14 victory, narrowly cashing as a 37-point favorite. The Tigers have a more noteworthy opponent this week hosting No. 12 Texas AM. The teams met last year with Clemson ekeing out a 28-26 victory as 12-point chalk.

Here is the top-25 schedule and odds for Week 2 of the college football season. BookMaker.eu will have spreads and totals for every game throughout the 2019 season.

No. 25 Stanford at USC ( -2.5, 45.5 ), 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)

No. 25 Stanford at USC ( -2.5, 45.5 )

An interesting matchup in the Pac-12 has No. 25 Stanford visiting USC. It’s interesting since both teams saw their starting quarterback go down in the opener with an injury. USC’s hopes of a bounce back season now rest in the hands of true freshman Kedon Slovis, who takes over for JT Daniels after the latter sustained a season-ending knee injury in a win over Fresno State. Stanford puts its ranking on the line and could do so without the services of K.J. Costello, who was knocked out in the Northwestern game. Costello is expected to return at some point and if he’s unable to play, Davis Mills will get the start. USC opened as a 3.5-point favorite, but there is uncertainty with Costello’s status up in the air. The line changes drastically if Stanford’s quarterback gets the green light.

No. 12 Texas A&M at No. 1 Clemson ( -17.5, 61 )

The Aggies gave it a go last year and nearly took the eventual national champions to overtime, only fail on their game-tying 2-point conversion near the end of the contest. What most folks don’t remember is that Clemson had Kelly Bryant starting with Trevor Lawrence still on the sideline. The Tigers escaped with the win but failed to cover as a 12-point favorite. That tilt was in College Station and things will be different this time around. The Tigers get home field and have Lawrence operating one of the top offenses in college football. A&M is getting plenty of action dropping the line to its current +17.5 from an opening +19.

Seven ranked teams are facing a spread north of 20 points this week with Alabama laying a whopping 55 points to New Mexico State. We don’t often see games where the spread is challenging the total, but that’s the case here. The over/under hasn’t budged since hitting the board at 64. Coming off their thrashing of South Florida, the Wisconsin Badgers are spotting Central Michigan five touchdowns for their encounter.

No team had ever appeared in the preseason rankings after posting a losing record the year before. Nebraska bucked that trend and I said last week the Huskers can’t be trusted. Sure enough, they struggled against a game South Alabama squad and failed to cover. The Huskers are a 4-point road fave for their game against Colorado.
