College Football Starting Quarterback Props Odds

With less than three weeks to go before the 2018 college football season kicks off there are still teams not fully committed to their starting quarterback as of yet. While most teams have strong favorites and fairly obvious choices there are other teams where its all up in the air. The UCLA Bruins in particular have three bona fide candidates to stand under center in week one. Adding to the intrigue is new head coach Chip Kelly, who is charged with making the underachieving UCLA program an updated version of Kelly’s X-Box offense from his days at Oregon.

We'll have College Football odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the NCAA Football schedule as well as College Football futures and props betting odds.

UCLA

There is an old adage in college football that if you have two quarterbacks you actually have none. Well, UCLA has three which must mean? Chip Kelly is leaning toward sophomore Devon Modster but Wilton Speight is a transfer from Michigan that started two seasons there including in the 2016 Orange Bowl. Speight missed most of last year due to injury and decided to transfer when it was obvious that he lost the job for good. Modster was highly touted out of high school and was picked to replace former starter Josh Rosen. Speight did win at Michigan and was named Third Team All-Big Ten in 2016.

Alabama

Jalen Hurts finally had enough and decided to speak for himself last week. While he is not happy about Tua Tagovailoa likely starting he also understands why as the freshman stole the national championship game from Georgia for Alabama in the second half last January. Hurts may well transfer after this year and was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in 2016.

Florida

The Gators also have a new coach in Dan Mullen, who arrives after a highly successful run at Mississippi State. Mullen was once offensive coordinator at Florida with Tim Tebow and the two national championship teams under Urban Meyer. Favorite Feleipe Franks is a redshirt sophomore that should thrive under Mullen’s tutelage.

Florida State

New head coach Willie Taggart arrives with an interesting choice. Junior Deondre Francois was ACC Rookie of the Year in 2016. He started the Orange Bowl that season in a win over Michigan. He was injured in the opener last year which derailed the Seminoles entire season. Sophomore James Blackman picked up valuable playing time last year as starter when Francois went out.

LSU

The Tigers have four contenders for the starting quarterback job which does not bode well for embattled head coach Ed Orgeron. Joe Burrow is basically a default favorite for this team that still hasn’t found an offense in several years. Well, at least the Bayou Bengals don’t have Les Miles to kick around anymore.

USC

With Sam Darnold gone freshman JT Daniels is the favorite to take over. Daniels was not only a five-star recruit but was rated the overall number one recruit in his class by Rivals.

Look for Chip Kelly to decide on the veteran Wilton Speight to take over as starting quarterback of UCLA. Speight is a proven winner even if not as dynamic as what Kelly had at Oregon.
