The top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs are laying more than two touchdowns on Saturday, as they play the Florida Gators in Jacksonville, Florida. The Bulldogs have been dominating all season, while the Gators have been up and down. Georgia has one of the best defenses that college football has seen in a long time, so Florida figures to struggle moving the ball. This will be the second time this season that Florida will be playing a top-ranked team, as they lost by just two points early in the season to Alabama. Let’s look at this matchup between Georgia and Florida. Week Nine college football action features the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs playing the Florida Gators. This game takes place at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, October 30, 2021. This game will be broadcast live on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET. Odds Analysis
We have seen a little bit of line movement toward Georgia in this game, as the line opened at 14 and is now up to 14.5. The total has dropped a full point, as it opened at 52 and is down to 51.
Florida Gators
The Gators are not a contender in the SEC this season, but they can still salvage the year with a win over Georgia. Defensive end Zachary Carter said a win over the top-ranked Bulldogs would be huge. “It would mean everything,” said Carter to the media, “It’s just one of those games as a Gator you want to win every year. I just want to get that win real bad. I ain’t going to lie; I’ve been talking about this game for about two weeks now through the bye week. So I’m really pumped up for this game.”
The key for Florida is to find a way to score some points against the best defense in the country. Head coach Dan Mullen is still not committed to starting Anthony Richardson, as he said that Emory Jones and Richardson will both play. “We’re going to keep playing them the same way,” Mullen said to the media, “We plan on playing both of the guys like we have.”
Florida played well earlier in the season when they played top-ranked Alabama, losing 31-29. “It’s the second time we’re going to play the No. 1 team in the same season — not many people usually get to do that,” Mullen said to the media.
Florida is averaging 34.4 points per game and putting up 501.9 yards per contest. The defense is giving up 21.1 points and 338.4 yards.
Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia has been rolling all season, winning by an average of 31.9 points per game. They are averaging 38.4 points per game which is 13th-best in the country. They lead the country in defense, allowing just 6.6 points per game. They are also first in fewest yards allowed at 209.1 per contest.
Georgia has a quarterback question of their own, as they have to decide between JT Daniels and Stetson Bennett. Daniels is 7-0 as the starter but he strained a lat muscle and has been out for weeks. Bennett took over and has played really well. Head coach Kirby Smart said the decision on the starter will be based on practice. "It’s going to be based on practice," he said to the media, "No decision has been made whatsoever."
Bennett’s passing efficiency for his three games started is 188.37, while Daniels’ season pass efficiency rating is 160.75. “Bennett’s "confidence is there now," offensive tackle Warren McClendon said to the media, "Just having him getting the reps, we believe in him, we trust him."
Florida Gators vs. Georgia Bulldogs Prediction
I know that Florida can save their season with a win, but I just wonder how the Gators are going to score. If Mullen wasn’t such a blockhead he would simply go with Richardson and let him loose. The only chance Florida has would be if Richardson makes some fantastic plays. I don’t see him making enough plays against this great defense so I will take Georgia minus the points and also play the game under the total.
