The Clemson Tigers are odds-on favorites to win the ACC this season. The Tigers bring back a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, but they do have a battle at quarterback between starter Kelly Bryant and freshman Trevor Lawrence. The Tigers are considered national title contenders, so if they don’t win the ACC it would be a major surprise. Three teams are considered darkhorses, as Miami, Florida State and Virginia Tech are all listed at odds of less than 10-1. All of the other teams are longshots. Let’s look at the odds, teams and predictions.

Favorite
Clemson brings back a lot of starters on both sides of the ball for the 2018 season. They have a defense that is simply outstanding. Their defensive line is being compared to some of the best NCAA defensive lines in history. Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, Clelin Ferrell and Austin Bryant are all projected to be first round NFL Draft picks. The offense is going to be good again, but the battle at quarterback could be a bit of a distraction. The Tigers are expected to be favored in every game this season, and their schedule doesn’t give them many tests. The key game will be at Tallahassee in a contest that might decide the ACC Atlantic Division.

Darkhorses
Clemson or Florida State has won the Atlantic Division every year since 2009 and one of the two teams has won the ACC title every year since 2011. The home team in the rivalry usually wins, so FSU definitely has a chance this season, but FSU will have a new head coach in Willie Taggart, as Jimbo Fisher left to take the head coaching job with Texas A&M.

Miami is actually the second choice in the betting odds to win the ACC and they have the advantage of playing in the Coastal Division. Many people believe this will be Mark Richt’s best team in his third year at Miami. The Hurricanes don’t have to play Clemson in the regular season and the FSU game is in Miami. The Hurricanes have one of the best groups of linebackers in the country led by Shaquille Quarterman and they are expected to battle Virginia Tech for the Costal Division title this season.

Virginia Tech is the other darkhorse, and they could be improved with Josh Jackson at quarterback in his second year. The Seminoles are a bit of an unknown this season, so perhaps Virginia Tech can start off by beating the Seminoles in the opener and getting an early lead in the ACC.

Longshots
None of the longshots really have a chance, but we’ll at least mention Georgia Tech, NC State and Boston College. The Yellow Jackets have a nice backfield led by TaQuon Marshall and KirVonte Benson, NC State returns quarterback Ryan Finley and they might be able to pull off a few surprises, while the Eagles have one of the top running backs in the country in A.J. Dillon and he may keep them in some games this season.
NFL Football Betting Odds 2018 ACC Predictions
The ACC is Clemson’s to lose, as Dabo Swinney has built a monster. Clemson is probably going to be favored in every game this season and it is just hard to go against them winning the ACC. It should be noted, however, that it all comes down to winning the ACC title game. If there is going to be a team that surprises and reaches that game to play Clemson it just might be Virginia Tech. They play in the Coastal Division so they just have to get past Miami. The Hokies have better value at odds of almost 10-1 than Miami does and Justin Fuente has proven to be a good coach.
