One of the best matchups on Saturday has the 12th-ranked Oregon Ducks visiting the 3rd-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on FOX. The Ducks are coming off an unimpressive win over Fresno State last week, while the Buckeyes outscored Minnesota. Ohio State is getting a lot of respect from the oddsmakers, as they are laying more than two touchdowns at home. Let’s look at the contest and college football picks.

Oregon Ducks +14.5
Ohio State Buckeyes -14.5

Odds Analysis
The early line on this game had Ohio State listed as an 11.5-point favorite. Bettors have been all over the Buckeyes, as the number is up to 14.5. There has also been a lot of action on the total. The number opened at 58.5 and is now 65. There is no question that sportsbooks will be rooting for Oregon and the under in this one.
Oregon Ducks
The Ducks beat Fresno State last week, but they didn’t look very good in their win, as the game was in doubt until the fourth quarter. Was Oregon just looking ahead to this game or are they simply not as good as advertised? The Ducks ran for 186 yards last week against Fresno and they are going to look to run the ball against the Buckeyes. Ohio State had trouble against the Minnesota running game, but that was against Mohamed Ibrahim who is one of the top running backs in the country.
The key on Saturday is how well Oregon can run the ball because Anthony Brown is not a good passer. If the Ducks can’t run the ball effectively, they are not going to win this game.
Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes didn’t look very good on defense last week against Minnesota, but they got enough big plays from the offense to win the game. The Buckeyes have a ton of talent surrounding quarterback C.J. Stroud including wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. “I don’t know that I’ve had to face two first-round picks,” Ducks defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter said to the media, “A lot of times you may see a special guy and you can design coverages around trying to double him, but when you’ve got two guys the talent that they have it’s really, really difficult.”
The Ducks realize they are going to have trouble against the Ohio State offense. “They possess a lot of different weapons on that team and they make a lot of explosive plays in the run and the pass game,” Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said to the media, “The ability to protect the quarterback and give him time to scan the field and get the ball down the field to guys that are really explosive, really fast and have great ball skills. They’re a great offense, a great football team with elite talent.”
Oregon Ducks vs. Ohio State Buckeyes Prediction
I am not impressed with Oregon and they are 1-7 ATS in their last eight games as a road underdog. Ohio State has not been a great favorite, as they are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, so it is always concerning to be laying big points with the Buckeyes. I was looking at taking the over, but I don’t like betting into the worst number and I noticed that 10 of the last 11 Oregon road games when they were an underdog went under. I think the best choice in this game is to simply lay the points with the Buckeyes.
