Odds Analysis
There is not much question that the line is moving toward Alabama in this game. Most sportsbooks have the line listed with Alabama as a 1.5-point favorite. That is not the case at BookMaker, as the number is still 2.5. Look for that number to drop, as Alabama is popular not only with the public, but also with the wise guys. The total opened at 46.5 and has moved down two points to 44.5.

Rose Bowl Free Pick
Normally when you have a No. 1 team vs. a No. 4 team, the top-ranked team would be favored by more than a field goal. That is not the case in the Rose Bowl. The Wolverines have the better overall numbers but the problem I have with Michigan is that they didn’t play many good teams. The Big Ten conference overall was weak. It was Michigan and Ohio State and not much else. That was not the case with the SEC, as there were a number of very good teams this season. It is hard to get a good idea of how good Michigan really is. Did they go unbeaten because they played in the Big Ten or are they really that good. We know Alabama is good, as the SEC is tough. And we know that Nick Saban is a better coach than Jim Harbaugh. It has been ugly for Harbaugh in bowl games, as he is just 1-6 since 2015.
For Michigan to win this game they are going to have find a way to stop the Alabama offense. If Jalen Milroe can handle the pressure of playing in a big game, then the Crimson Tide are likely to win this game. We don’t know if J.J. McCarthy can handle the big stage, as he has never shown much in critical situations. I can’t go against Nick Saban in a big game, especially when he has had about a month to get ready. I’ll take the points with Alabama in the Rose Bowl.
