Sugar Bowl Free Pick
How often do you see an unbeaten team in a bowl game as a 4-point underdog against a team with one loss? There is no question that Washington is not getting much respect in the Sugar Bowl. The same thing happened to the Huskies in the Pac-12 title game, as they were a big underdog against Oregon. And we know what happened in that game, as the Huskies won outright. Can Washington surprise everyone again and beat Texas in the Sugar Bowl?
One of the teams that I saw the most this season was Washington and I was not that impressed. I admit that I was surprised they beat Oregon in the Pac-12 title game, but the difference between Oregon and Texas is that Texas has a defense. Oregon’s defense wasn’t any good all season. The Longhorns have a decisive edge in this game on defense, as they can make stops, while Washington’s defense is going to have a hard time stopping Texas. The only way that Washington stays in this game is if Penix has a huge game and I just don’t see it happening. Texas has a quarterback in Ewers who I think is actually better than Penix and there is no question that the Longhorns have the better defense. I have to go with Texas minus the points in this game and I think it will be a rematch between Alabama and Texas in the title game. I was tempted to take the over in the Sugar Bowl, but I think the best choice is to simply lay the points with the Longhorns.
