When it comes to college football November is the month to remember and this year is certainly no different. The games get better and the stakes much higher as bowl bids, national rankings, conference championships and the college football playoff itself are all at stake. This week we have a pair of parlays that play right into the November to Remember sentiment. On our Redemption Road Dog Parlay, we have three quality teams that are coming off losses but are now dogs against teams that they can certainly beat straight up. Meanwhile there are some very dangerous home dogs this week that could provide plenty of bite for gamblers looking for top value. Our Home Dog Parlay provides quality teams in winnable situations.
Redemption Road Dog Parlay
Colorado Buffaloes +4 at Arizona Wildcats
Colorado blew a 31-3 lead in their homecoming game against the Oregon State Beavers to end up in a stunning 41-34 loss. The Buffs have now lost three in a row. But this week Colorado is getting points at an Arizona team that has been a mess most of the season. The Wildcats 90th in the nation ranked defense will allow for Buffalo opportunities. Colorado needs just one more win for a bowl bid and getting away from home will ease the pressure after last week’s giveaway disaster.
Iowa Hawkeyes +2.5 at Purdue Boilermakers
Iowa boasts the nation’s third ranked defense and is coming off a tough 30-24 loss at the Penn State Nittany Lions in which they were threatening all the way to the end. Purdue lost an ugly 23-13 decision at the Michigan State Spartans last week and has the nation’s 97th ranked defense. Purdue’s win over Ohio State has proven to be a perfect storm and last week was a stark reality check.
Duke Blue Devils +8 at Miami Hurricanes
Duke has lost two in a row after a hot 4-0 start but Miami is no great shakes with an identical record to Duke of 5-3 and a sluggish offense that ranks 85th in the country with terrible play at the quarterback position.
Recapping our Redemption Road Dog Parlay, we have Colorado, Iowa, and Duke.
Home Dog Parlay
Virginia Tech Hokies +2 vs. Boston College Eagles
Virginia Tech is a team seeking redemption in their own right after an embarrassing 49-28 home loss to Georgia Tech’s famed option attack. The Hokies have won both of their previous games this year that followed straight up losses. A Boston College defense that ranks 52nd in the country will allow for Virginia Tech chances. Boston College is not an option team and runs a traditional power attack which Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster should more easily handle.
Texas Tech Red Raiders +10.5 vs. Oklahoma Sooners
Texas Tech was ambushed in a 40-31 loss at the Iowa State Cyclones last week and should be quite motivated for a Saturday night national TV game against resurgent Oklahoma. And while the Sooners defense has improved its nowhere near dominant which means that the Red Raiders third in the nation ranked passing attack will get openings.
Kentucky Wildcats +9.5 vs. Georgia Bulldogs
This is the biggest game in the modern history of Kentucky football. Last week at Mizzou the Wildcats were trailing 14-3 with 5:18 to play before getting a 67-yard touchdown punt return by Lynn Bowden and an untimed two-yard touchdown pass from Terry Wilson to CJ Conrad for a win that gives U of K the look of a team of destiny. Of substance is a Kentucky defense that ranks second in the nation for points allowed. Sure, Georgia has the significant talent advantage and superior offense. But offsetting that is scrapping Kentucky finding ways to win and having the chance to clinch the SEC East Division championship on their home field in front of their long-suffering fans.
Recapping our Home Dog Parlay. we have Virginia Tech, Texas Tech and Kentucky.
