Week 10 has an attractive Atlantic Coast Conference matchup of top surprise contenders from the Coastal Division between the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Virginia Cavaliers. While the Miami Hurricanes were the flashy name brand pick of the Coastal the Panthers and Cavaliers are in a surprising three-way tie for the top spot with the Virginia Tech Hokies. Virginia has shown methodical improvement under head coach Bronco Mendenhall while Pitt has been recently ignited after a terrible start.

Pitt had such a bad start to the season that the gambling public is not yet ready to trust them. Pitt has terrible numbers entering this game as they rank 95th in the country for total offense and 101st for total defense. What is most disturbing is that head coach Pat Narduzzi was celebrated for his work as defensive coordinator at Michigan State.
Virginia ranks 82nd in the country for total offense but boasts the nation’s 18th ranked scoring defense.
ATS Numbers
Pitt has been an up and down betting value as a road dog as evidenced by their record of just five payouts in their last 11 games in that role. Additionally, the Panthers have been a very strong under team getting points on the road. In fact, Pitt has gone under the total in seven consecutive games as a visiting pup.
Balanced against that is the fact that Virginia has shown marked improvement as a home favorite recently. For example, the Cavaliers have covered the spread in four of their last five laying points at home. Virginia has also gone under the total in just two of their last seven games laying points at Scott Stadium.
