Week 10 features one of the biggest matchups from the Big 12 Conference this season when the Texas Longhorns host the West Virginia Mountaineers. West Virginia is coming off a dominating performance last week that helped to atone for an upset ambush loss at the Iowa State Cyclones in their game before that. Texas was starting to get a lot of national love after their win over the Oklahoma Sooners but was upset on Homecoming night at the Oklahoma State Cowboys last week.
This matchup in Week 10 will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. ET from Royal Texas Memorial Stadium. FOX is providing the telecast of this game.

Live Betting Odds Analysis
This line is indicative of the public uncertainty about both teams. West Virginia was looking like a top Big 12 contender before their debacle at Iowa State, which in retrospect may not loom as bad now considering the Cyclones are winning. Texas did indeed upset Oklahoma but offset much of the public trust with their loss at Okie State.
Mounties Back to Climbing
West Virginia had two weeks to stew after their 30-14 loss at Iowa State and took out their frustrations last week on the Baylor Bears in a 58-14 slaughter as 14.5-point home chalks. Quarterback Will Grier passed for 353 yards and three touchdowns in the triumph. With the win the Mountaineers are now 6-1 straight up and 5-2 against the spread with four of their seven games going under the total.
Burnt Orange Bleeds Red
The Texas Longhorns are 6-2 straight up but just 3-5 against the spread with an even 4-4 split on totals after last week’s 38-35 loss at Oklahoma State. Texas was outgained 502-402 and outplayed badly in the first half in which the Pokes took a 24-7 lead. The loss also revealed all of the weaknesses of the Horns.
Team Metrics
Texas has trouble getting the money, even when they win, because they are still an average football team. The Longhorns rank 66th in the nation for total offense and 56th for total defense.
West Virginia on the other hand does have an identifiable strength. Namely the Mountaineers are one of the top offensive teams in the land and rank 15th overall for total offense while ranking 16th for scoring offense.
The Quarterbacks
West Virginia boasts one of the best quarterbacks in the country with Will Grier, who is still a dark horse for the Heisman Trophy. Grier has a 188.7 quarterback rating with 25 touchdown passes and seven interceptions with an average of 10.37 yards per pass and a 70% completion rate.
Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger is the best Longhorn signal caller since Colt McCoy. Ehlinger has a 140.4 rating with 13 touchdown passes and just two interceptions. However, he is averaging 7.30 yards per pass with a 63 percent completion rate, far below Grier’s numbers.
ATS Trends
West Virginia has lost four of their last six against the spread as a road dog with three of their last four in that role going under the total. Balanced against that is the poor value of Texas as a home chalk. The Longhorns have covered the spread in just three of their last 10 games as a favorite at Royal Memorial Stadium with three of their last four going under the total. The Mounties have covered two of their last three games with Texas with three of the last four in this series going under the total.
Free Live Betting ATS Pick
West Virginia’s loss at Iowa State may prove to be the best thing that could have happened to them. The Mounties won’t take games for granted any more. Grier give them a potentially strong advantage for live betting opportunities against an average looking Texas team.
