Week 11 includes one of the great traditional rivalries of the Southeastern Conference between proud historic programs from neighboring states. The Auburn Tigers were tabbed to contend for the college football playoff but stumbled badly with three losses in five games before recently getting back on track. The Georgia Bulldogs showed the Kentucky Wildcats who is boss of the East Division last week as they punched their ticket to the SEC Championship Game next month. Auburn and Georgia meet Saturday night in a renewal of last year’s SEC Championship Game.

Auburn lucked out to steal the game and money against Texas A&M but is still not playing all that well and certainly nowhere near the level of Georgia. The Bulldogs will get plenty of public support but their value has not been good as a home favorite.

Auburn is 6-3 straight up but 4-5 against the spread with six of their games going under the total. The Tigers are coming off a 28-24 home win and payout over the Texas A&M Aggies. Auburn was badly outgained 421-278 but capitalized on late turnovers to erase a 24-14 Aggies lead with under six minutes to play in the game.

Auburn ranks a damning 90th in college football for total offense. Head coach Gus Malzahn was celebrated five years ago as the man that was going to reinvent football with his zone read attack. However, that never turned into sustained reality. Defensively the Tigers rank 13th in the country for points allowed.
Defense remains the bedrock of Georgia as the Bulldogs rank 10th in the country for points allowed. Offensively UGA ranks 20th in the country for scoring.

Auburn has gone through a decline in wagering value as a road dog recently with just two payouts in their last seven games in that role. Seven of War Eagle’s last 11 away matchups have gone over the total.

Overall Georgia has dominated this head to head series with nine wins in their last 13 meetings against Auburn. Five of the last seven between these teams have gone under the number. At Sanford Stadium the Bulldogs have won and covered five consecutive meetings with War Eagle as just one of those games went over the total.
