Live Betting Odds Analysis

Houston will be the betting favorite based on their reputation as a consistent bowl team and American Athletic Conference title contender. Although Tulane has shown modest improvement the public sees them as one of the worst programs in college football.

Cougars Losing Steam

Houston was riding high a couple of weeks ago but is now struggling with two consecutive losses both straight up and against the spread with four consecutive games going over the total. Last week the Cougars were mauled at home against Temple 59-49 as the Owls rumbled to 317 rushing yards in the win. The Cougars are now 7-3 straight up, 5-5 against the spread, and have gone over the total seven times.

Tulane Rides Green Wave

Tulane is 5-5 both straight up and against the spread with eight of their games going under the total. Tulane is riding a three-game winning streak after last week’s 24-18 home win over East Carolina. Head coach Willie Fritz is in his third season and on the brink of a bowl breakthrough.

Team Metrics

Tulane ranks 90th in the nation for scoring offense and 59th for scoring defense. The one thing that the Green Wave has going for them is the nation’s 28th ranked rushing offense.

Houston boasts the nation’s second ranked offense but that is offset by a defense that ranks 121st overall and 106th for points allowed.

ATS Stats

Tulane has not been an effective road dog recently as evidenced by their mark of just two payouts in their last six games getting points away from home. Four of the Green Wave’s last six as road dogs have gone over the total.

Houston, on the other hand, has been one of the better home favorites on the college football board recently. The Cougars have covered the spread in five of their last seven games laying points at TDECU Stadium. Three of their last four in that role have gone over the total.

Head to Head

Houston has struggled recently in their head to head series with Tulane. In fact, the Green Wave have come away with the cash in three of the last four meetings between these two teams. Four of the last five games between Tulane and Houston have gone under the total. Last season at Tulane the Green Wave scored a 20-17 upset win as 9.5-point home chalks. In their games at Houston the Green Wave have come away with the cash in their last two visits but failed to pay in the five previous games in H-Town before that. Two of the last three between these teams at Houston have gone under the total.

Free Live Betting ATS Pick

Houston’s defense has become an alarming problem but the question is if Tulane can capitalize. You can be sure that Fritz will be studying the tapes from last week’s game when Temple ran roughshod over the Cougars. The Tulane ground game also keeps the defense fresh and off the field for long periods of time.
