Week Three opens with an intriguing Atlantic Coast Conference Thursday night matchup between two improved programs that appear to be on the upswing when the Wake Forrest Demon Deacons host the Boston College Eagles. In his sixth season at BC head coach Steve Addazio finally has the program in his image. Four bowl appearances in the last five seasons have also served to increase confidence and recruiting. Dave Clawson has experienced a similar transformation of his Wake Forest program and has led the Demon Deacons to back to back bowl seasons.
This contest in Week 3 will go down Thursday, September 13, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. ET at BB&T Field. The game can be seen on ESPN.

Odds Analysis
Wake Forest will be a popular choice at home due to their recent success that included a Belk Bowl win last year to go with a 2-0 start to 2018. Many will see them as a very live dog getting a solid amount of points. Although Boston College has improved they have yet to fully inspire the confidence or respect of the betting public.
Recent Form
Wake Forest is 2-0 straight up but 0-2 against the spread after last week’s 51-20 win over Towson as 33.5 home chalks. Boston College is 2-0 both straight up against the spread after last week’s 62-14 home payout over Holy Cross. Both of the Eagles games went over the total.
Eagles Stay Grounded for Success
Steve Addazio began his career as one of the best offensive line coaches in the country. It stands to figure that he would build Boston College in that manner. The Eagles rank third in the nation for rushing yardage as a result of this emphasis of strong line play under Addazio. AJ Dillon leads with 247 yards and a devastating 9.5 yards per carry average with three touchdowns.
One Dimensional Deacs
David Clawson made his bones in college football as a well-respected offensive coordinator. And offense has been the Demon Deacons ticket to bowl seasons. After two weeks Wake ranks 18th nationally for total offense. But defensively Clawson’s team ranks 96th in the country. However, they do match up decently against BC with a ranking of 34th against the rush. Freshman quarterback Same Hartman has impressed with a 62% completion rate.
Boston College Key Trends
Boston College has covered their last four road games with four of their last six games away from home going under the total. As a road favorite however, the Eagles have covered just three of their last nine with six straight games as road chalks going under the total.
Wake Forest Key Trends
Wake Forest has lost just three of their last 10 games against the spread at home with three of their last four at home going under the total. The Demon Deacons have also been a reliable home dog with just three losses in their last 11 getting points at BB&T Field. Four of the Deacs last six games as home dogs went over the total.
Head to Head
Wake Forest humiliated Boston College 34-10 in a pick’em game at BC last year. Overall the Demon Deacons have covered the spread in five of their last seven games against the Eagles. The last eight meetings in this head to head series have gone under the total. Wake Forest has covered two of their last three home games with Boston College.
Free ATS Pick
Wake Forest may have a lot of roster turnover to work through but the fact remains they are a dangerous home dog. Boston College has feasted on cupcakes so far as they also routed an outmanned UMass team 55-21. While the Eagles should be respected for their progress this is a tall task laying close to a TD at a Wake team that has developed a winning culture.
College Football Odds: Wake Forest 28, Boston College 24
