Week four had its share of college football betting revelations and bad beats as well as thrilling victories. For certain week four was a great reminder why if you have not yet signed up for live betting now is the time to do so. There were some wild back and fourth games that were tales of two halves. In addition, half time betting action made winners out of losers and vice versa. In some cases, there are teams looking like they cannot have a line posted high enough on them while there are also teams that have reached their law of gravity limit as exposed overlays. And there was quite the pair of bad beats from one game in the Big Ten Conference which is where we will begin our review of Week Four college football gambling action.
Iowa Kicks Away Cash to Wisconsin
The Iowa Hawkeyes are well known and regarded for their Saturday Giant Killings at home in Kinnick Stadium. In 2016 the took out the undefeated Michigan Wolverines to ruin their season. Last year the Hawks nuked the Ohio State Buckeyes playoff chances with a stunning blowout win. This well-earned reputation by Iowa had a lot of gamblers jumping on them against a Wisconsin Badgers team that was reeling after a had home upset loss to BYU. Iowa was a three-point home dog and led this Neanderball Big Ten throwback slobberknocker 17-14 late in the fourth quarter before fate and disaster struck. In reception of a Wisconsin punt a Hawkeye player accidentally kicked a live ball which means it was considered a fumble that the Badgers recovered deep in Iowa territory. Those holding the winning tickets soon found them to be losers as Wisconsin scored with 57 seconds to play on a 17-yard pass touchdown pass by Alex Hornibrook to AJ Taylor. Then to make matters worse the undertakers, who seemed to have a sure win, had their evenings ruined when the Badgers scored again after an Iowa turnover. Alec Ingold ran 33 yards for a TD with 22 seconds to play and Rafael Gaglianone’s point after sent the game over the total by a single point!
Oregon Quacks Away Win
The Oregon Ducks were also three-point home dogs on Saturday night against the arch rival Stanford Cardinal in a Pac 12 North Division showdown. The Ducks jumped out to a 24-7 lead in the second quarter and led 31-21 with 4:39 to play in the game. But Stanford rallied to tie the game and send it into overtime where they won it 38-31 on a 23-yard touchdown pass from KJ Costello to Colby Parkinson. It was a cruel defeat for both the Ducks and gamblers who still figured to get a push in overtime off a Stanford field goal. Live and half-time betting was shown to be a key factor in gamblers making the most of these two wild games.
Tide Finally Sees Crimson Ink
The Alabama Crimson Tide is 4-0 straight up and has covered three of their four games despite being the most public team on the board. Week Four saw the Tide roll all over Texas A&M 45-23 but they were not able to cover the 24-point spread. It figured that it would only be a matter of time before Alabama was an overlay as the linemaker is fully aware of their public appeal, especially as a home chalk.
Frustrating Day for UGA Backers
Meanwhile the Georgia Bulldogs scored a 43-29 win at the Missouri Tigers but also failed to cover as a 14.5 chalk. What was so maddening for Georgia backers is that they controlled the game and jumped out to a 27-7 lead. But the Bulldogs toyed with the Tigers, got sloppy and never put them away.
Big Red Ink for Nebraska
Then there was the sad story of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who lost at the Michigan Wolverines by a score of 56-10 as 18-point dogs. Nebraska had high hopes going into the season but has flopped with three failures against the spread in three games. Live betting action players took full advantage of this blood bath with the Maize and Blue.
