After a surprisingly great start which included a big upset win over Michigan State the Arizona State Sun Devils got something of a reality check last week in a tough road loss at San Diego State. Meanwhile the Washington Huskies are continuing to try and dig out from their week one loss to the Auburn Tigers which gives them no margin for error in their quest to make the College Football Playoff. Washington certainly impressed all with their win in the Muss at Utah last Saturday in one of the toughest environments in all of college football. Washington hosts Arizona State Saturday night in another “Pac 12 After Dark” special!

Odds Analysis
Washington is an understandable large chalk based on their recent reputation as a national power under head coach Chris Peterson. Arizona State is yet to earn the full faith and trust of the betting public as one of the most inconsistent programs in the land.
Recent Form
The Washington Huskies are 2-1 straight up but 1-2 against the spread with all three of their games staying under the total. Washington is coming off their most impressive performance of the season in a 21-7 win at Utah as four-point favorites. The Huskies outgained the Utes 327-261 with senior running back Myles Gaskin providing the big night by compiling 143 yards rushing on 30 attempts with a touchdown.
The Arizona State Sun Devils are 2-1 both straight up and against the spread with two of their three games going over the total. The Sun Devils were in a letdown spot last week in their 28-21 loss at San Diego State which followed their big home win over Michigan State the week prior. ASU was outgained by the Aztecs 440-377 and only had the ball for 23:55 of the game. San Diego State thrashed the Sun Devils for 311 yards rushing.
Key Trends
Arizona State has lost just one of their last five games against the spread as road dogs with five of their last eight in that role going under the total. As double-digit road dogs the Sun Devils have really excelled with 11 payouts in their last 17 in that situation. ASU has gone under the total in five of their last six when getting 10 or more points away from home.
Washington has been a reliable home chalk recently as evidenced by their four payouts in their last six laying points at Husky Stadium. Four of their last six in that role have gone over the total. Washington has covered three of their last five as double-digit home chalks with three of their last five in that situation going over the total.
Head to Head
Arizona State has owned the cashier’s cage in this head to head series with 12 consecutive payouts. Last year ASU scored a 13-7 upset home win over U-Dub as 17.5 home dogs. Six of the last seven in this series have gone under the total. Further the Sun Devils have covered their last eight consecutive trips to Husky Stadium with six of the last seven between these teams at Washington going under the total.
Browning Out
Washington was a trendy pick to win the Pac 12 Conference and make the College Football Playoff thanks in large part to senior quarterback Jake Browning. But so far Browning has a 4/4 touchdown to interception ratio with a 118 rating, far below last year’s 152.1 mark. In 2016 Browning posted a 167.5 rating with 43 touchdown passes and just nine interceptions. He has never been quite the same since.

Arizona State’s remarkable streak against Washington should be ridden until proven otherwise.
