We ended up splitting last week’s parlay picks going 0-2 ATS on Saturday and 2-0 ATS on Sunday. I regretted taking the points with Orlando after the Roughnecks got ahead of the 9.5-point spread less than five minutes into the first quarter. I had a feeling I’d lose the over in the San Antonio/Seattle game with the commentators going off about it being the highest total of the season. A total of 21 points hit the board and we got killed. Sunday was much better. Arlington and St. Louis played to a low scorer as expected, while the Defenders had no issue sweeping the season rivalry with the Vipers winning by margin. The 2-2 ATS showing at the online sportsbook against the XFL odds moves us to 7-9 ATS for the season.
Let’s see if we can’t get back into the black with my Week 5 XFL parlay picks!

St. Louis Battlehawks +2
Orlando/Vegas Over 41.5
Arlington/San Antonio Under 34.5
Payout: $100 to win $1223
Seattle Sea Dragons +3.5
As impressive the Roughnecks have been through the first four weeks of the XFL betting season, I think they’re ripe for a loss with two of the four wins coming against the winless Orlando Guardians. Seattle has both the offense (No. 1) and defense (No. 2) to give Wade Phillips’ squad their first case of adversity – especially in the comforts of Lumen Field. Houston has gotten out to 4-0 SU and ATS starts by way of accruing a league-high 17 sacks and nine turnovers. Seattle has only given up four sacks and has done a decent job holding onto the pigskin.
While Houston sports the league’s top rated total defense, it’s gotten the benefit of running up against two of the league’s worst offenses in three of their four played games. I expect QB Ben DiNucci, RB Morgan Ellison, and WRs Josh Gordon and Jahcour Pearson to be their toughest assignments to date. If Houston wasn’t undefeated heading into this matchup, Seattle would be favored to win. As such, I’ll take the points in what could prove to be a preview of the XFL Championship game!
St. Louis Battlehawks +2
I don’t understand why A.J. McCarron and the Battlehawks are lined home underdogs in this revenge bout with the Defenders. Sure, D.C. enters this tilt undefeated atop the XFL North standings, but this team could just as easily be 2-2 as opposed to 4-0. St. Louis finally got its ground attack going last week in its first game played in front of the hometown faithful, and that’s a good thing considering how readily able D.C. has been at dominating games with its own rushing attack.
Should RB Brian Hill pick right back up where he left off last week after ripping the Renegades for 89 yards and a touchdown, it would allow for the Battlehawks to win the time of possession battle and keep the ball out of Jordan Ta’amu’s hands. Had the Battlehawks not lost the turnover battle 5-3 in the first meeting, the game at Audi field would’ve played out much differently. With 30,000+ cheering them on, I expect the Battlehawks to even the season series.
Orlando/Vegas Over 41.5
I’m 0-4 ATS betting the point spread or total in games involving the Orlando Guardians entering Week 5. With that, you might want to ignore anything I have to say about this matchup with the Vipers. That being said, I foresee success for both offensive units in this matchup with Orlando likely to take advantage of a Vegas defense that rates out in the bottom half of the most pertinent defensive stat categories.
On the flipside, Luis Perez and or Brett Hundley should have success picking apart an Orlando defense that can’t get off the field on third down (No. 6) or stop the pass (No. 5). That falls directly in line with what Vegas excels at offensively with it owners of the No. 3 ranked passing attack. I expect both squads to go all-out in an attempt to win their first game of the season with the end result having points dent the scoreboard.
Arlington/San Antonio Under 34.5
So last week we played the over of a game with the highest total of the XFL betting season. This week, we’ll hit the under of a game with the lowest point total of the year. Arlington has had all kinds of issues moving the ball and putting points on the board. It ranks dead last at both running and passing the football while combining for just over 197.0 yards per game. Right behind them is San Antonio who’s combined for just 221.8 yards per game and a miniscule 16.0 points per game (No. 6).
It’s gotten so bad for the Brahmas that OC Jaime Elizondo was just demoted in favor of QB Coach Jimmie Johnson. On the flipside, both defenses rank out amongst the best in the XFL with the Renegades allowing 19.0 points per game and Brahmas 16.8 points per game. Look for both defenses to determine the final outcome of this XFL South smack down!
