The clock is ticking for players to get into the Top 110 in the Race to Dubai, as just four more events remain until the Rolex Series tournaments. This week’s European Tour event is the Portugal Masters with Thorbjorn Olesen listed as the favorite at odds of +1600. Sergio Garcia gets back into action this week and he is the co-second choice at +1800 along with Lucas Bjerregaard. Let’s look at the odds and predictions for the Portugal Masters.

Odds Analysis
Thorbjorn Olesen +1600
It is hard to argue with the form of Olesen, as he has a win, a second, a third, a fourth, a sixth and two other top 20 finishes in his last ten starts. I do think he is a bit overvalued, however, as his best finish in this event is a tie for 16th.
Sergio Garcia +1800
I also think Sergio is overvalued this week. He has never played this event in the past and he hasn’t really played that well this year.
Lucas Bjerregaard +1800
The defending champion comes in playing well and he is not without a chance at these odds. He finished runner-up in the Omega European Masters and he has shot 17-under par in his last two starts.
Chris Wood +2000
I don’t know how Wood will react to losing last week at the KLM Open. I would tend to think he has a letdown but he has finished in the top ten three times on this course.
Eddie Pepperell +2000
Pepperell has finished in the top ten in four of his last six events. He tied for third in this event a year ago.
Shane Lowry +2200
I give Lowry a shot to win this week, as this course suits his game. He won the title in 2012 and he had been playing pretty well before missing the cut at the Wyndham.
Ryan Fox +4000
Fox just hasn’t been able to get that elusive win, but maybe this is the week. He missed the cut last week at the KLM Open, but this course really should suit him much better, as distance is a big key.
Alexander Levy +4500
Levy is starting to play better again and he likes this event, as he won the title in 2014. He is coming off a tie for 20th last week at the KLM Open.
Gavin Green +8000
My huge longshot this week is Green, as he is a big hitter who should love this course. He comes in playing well too, as he had a top three in the Czech Masters and a tie for 12th at the European Masters.
Course
Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura has hosted this event since 2007. The course is relatively easy, so scores are going to be very good. It measures 7,146 yards and is a par 71. The fairways are very wide and the greens are large. The last three winners of this event have finished at least 20-under par. Lucas Bjerregaard will be looking to defend his title.
