European Tour Betting - Odds To Win Saudi International

All politics aside it’s time for the best golfers in the world to do what they do best when the European Tour convenes this week for the inaugural Saudi International. Four of the World’s top five golfers headline the field with No. 1 Justin Rose and No. 5 Bryson DeChambeau coming off victories last week. Course form is a non-factor since this is the first Tour event held at the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, and we all know how difficult it is to win back-to-back. Therefore it might be wise to look further down the odds board. World No. 3 Dustin Johnson is the third favorite at +725 while No. 2 Brooks Koepka is the fourth favorite on the odds list at BookMaker.eu at +875.

Odds Analysis

Dustin Johnson +725

If anyone can handle the political climate in Saudi Arabia and not let it affect their game, DJ is the guy. Mostly because he just doesn’t give a damn. Other self-righteous folks will claim the Tour and its players shouldn’t even be in this location, but Johnson put it so eloquently recently saying he’s a golfer, not a politician. And he’s a pretty good golfer entering the tournament at No. 3 on the OWGR. No course form, but his last three visits to the Middle East saw him grab runner-up with a share of ninth and 16th.

Matt Wallace +2350

Scorching hot to open the season, Wallace has six straight top-20s and is coming off an impressive runner-up finish last week in Dubai when he shot a second-round 64. “That was the best I’ve ever played tee-to-green and that’s a really good sign,” he said following the event. Wallace also shared runner-up at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai and was T16 in Abu Dhabi a few weeks back. He’s played well in the Middle East during his career and is one of the better wind players, which will help this week.

Bryson DeChambeau +505

Talk about being on a run of spectacular form. DeChambeau undressed the field last week in Dubai, winning his first European Tour title by eight-shots setting a tournament record with a 24-under 264. It was his fourth title worldwide in the last five months. He wasn’t happy with his game after three rounds despite holding the lead. His swing improved to the tune of a 64 on Sunday to win the tournament by a record number of strokes. The field is much stiffer this week, but if DeChambeau finds his A game another title could be his.

Haotong Li +2975

Sometimes all it takes is added motivation to separate from a stacked field. If anyone has that boost it’s Li, who surely feels wronged after being penalized last week for a violation no one agreed with. The 2-stroke penalty not only cost the Chinese player a higher spot on the leaderboard, it also took roughly $100,000 out of his pocket. Li had three rounds of 67 and was battling DeChambeau while defending his Dubai Desert Classic title. He responded nicely after missing the cut in Abu Dhabi, adding a fourth top-15 in his last six Euro Tour starts.

Course: Royal Greens Golf & Country Club – 7,010-yards, par-70

The course is still a baby after opening in April 2018 and it’s a short track with par reduced from the normal 72 to 70 for the Euro Tour pros. Holes No. 4 and No. 18 are the only par-5s on the track so making birdies or better on those two over the course of the week could be critical when determining a champion. There are a few man-made water hazards with several lakes coming into play on five holes and a few holes play along the coast of the Red Sea. Designers worked in a gently rolling effect, but the layout is for the most part typical of Middle Eastern courses. Wind will play a factor throughout with gusts in the forecast during the afternoon.
