European Tour Golf Lines - KLM Open Live Props

The European Tour heads to the Netherlands this week for the KLM Open with Lee Westwood listed as the favorite. English players have done well in this event through the years, with six wins in the last 14 years. Westwood is the top choice in the betting, but at +1600 he is a lukewarm favorite. Eddie Pepperell is the second choice in the betting at odds of +2000. Let’s look at the odds and predictions for the KLM Open.

Odds Analysis

Lee Westwood +1600

The field for this event is so weak that Westwood is actually listed as the favorite. He did tie for third in this event a year ago and he is playing pretty well, so he definitely has a chance. He finished second at the Made in Denmark and he tied for 12th last week in Switzerland.

Eddie Pepperell +2000

Pepperell has played well in this event in the past, including a tie for third last year. He has had a good season with a win at the Qatar Masters and a second in the Scottish Open. I think he is a bit overvalued at these odds, but he is capable of getting the win.

Chris Wood +2500

Wood returned to action in the European Masters and played well with a tie for 23rd. He always seems to play well on links courses, so he should contend this week and we get him at odds of +2500.

Matt Wallace +2500

Wallace had a letdown last week, as he closed with a 74 to finish in a tie for 51st. He missed out on the Ryder Cup and he has been playing a lot of golf lately. I think he is overvalued at these odds.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat +3000

Aphibarnrat led this event after 54 holes last year but then had a poor final round to fall into a tie for 9th. I know he hasn’t had a top 30 finish since his tie for 15th at the U.S. Open, but this field is weak and I think Kiradech can contend.

Soren Kjeldsen +3500

Kjeldsen has not played this course in the past, but he has done well in this event with a couple of top 12 finishes. He is in solid form and could be in contention on Sunday.

Matthew Southgate +4500

Southgate shot 65-68 in the two middle rounds of this event a year ago. He has played well on similar courses in the past and I think he is a live longshot at these odds.

Joakim Lagergren +5000

My other longshot is Lagergen who is listed at odds of +5000. He led this event going into Saturday last year. He missed the cut last week in Switzerland but this course in the Netherlands fits his style of play.

Course: The Dutch is located about 45 minutes south of Amsterdam. It is a very flat course; much different than last week’s course in Switzerland. The course really has a links feel to it with three par 5’s. The course is a par 71 that measures 6,983 yards. Water hazards are in play on 12 of the 18 holes, so accuracy is definitely important this week. Austin Connelly ranked first in driving accuracy when he won this event two years ago.
