The fourth playing of the Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open returns to the Four Seasons Resort with South African Dylan Frittelli looking to defend his title. The event moved from a May playing date to late November last year and was included as part of the 2018 European Tour schedule. The tournament runs concurrently with the Australian PGA Championship with both carrying the same number of Race to Dubai points.
The tournament was held at Four Seasons in 2016 and the scores were much higher than the two playings at Heritage Golf Club. At +785 Frittelli is the big favorite on the odds board at BookMaker.eu and the previous two winners will also be competing. George Coetzee captured the title in 2015 and he goes off at +2000. South Korean Jeunghun Wang won at the Four Seasons two years ago and is listed at +3300.

Odds Analysis
Dylan Frittelli +785
The South African returns to defend his title and is the heavy favorite to do so. But remember, that victory came at the Heritage Golf Club, which is a much different track than the Four Seasons. Two years ago when the event took place here, Frittelli missed the cut. But he also had an early exit at Heritage in 2015 before winning the thing two years later, so course form for him is irrelevant. Recent form is good with five top-25 finishes in his last seven European Tour events, and he had a strong finish with a pair of 66s to grab a share of seventh his last time out at the DP World Tour Championship.
Bernd Wiesberger +2500
A wrist injury derailed his promising career, but the Austrian has declared himself fit as he tries to get back on track. Once ranked No. 23 in the world and a four-time winner on the European Tour, Wiesberger will be making his first start since missing the cut at the China Open in April. He wouldn’t be here if he didn’t think he could win, but overcoming a serious injury, especially one that impacts his swing, could take a little longer. He’s worth the gamble and the payout is nice, and Wiesberger would likely be much higher on the odds board if fully healthy.
Ernie Els +4000
A little home cooking for the veteran could prove to be enough to get him back in the win column. When he’s not competing on the course, Els is designing them, and he designed the layout at the Four Seasons. “Hopefully a little insider knowledge will work in my favor at Anahita,” he said before the tournament. The four-time Major winner bagged a T36 at the CJ Cup and T37 at the RSM Classic, closing that event with a 64. So, who knows?
Thomas Aiken +2500
Some recent struggles pushed the South African further down the odds board, but we were reminded just how good Aiken can be when he grabbed a runner-up finish at the Nordea Masters in August. And that showing kick started his resurgence. Aiken has three top-20s in his last four starts and his final round 62 at the Hong Kong Open got him to 19th. He claimed a top four finish at this event in 2015 at Heritage and hasn’t played Four Seasons.
