After a few weeks on hiatus the European Tour is back in swing this week in the iconic city of Prague for the D+D Real Czech Masters, which will be contested at the Albatross Golf Club. This year’s playing marks the sixth consecutive with the previous five winners all slated to peg it up. Defending champ Andrea Pavan set a tournament record at 22-under last year, but he’s down the odds board at +2000. Eddie Pepperell is the betting favorite at top online sportsbooks, but the list suggests the tournament is wide open.

Odds Analysis
Thomas Pieters +1600
Recent form has been wobbly at best putting Pieters further down the odds board than he’s been in the past. But this might be the track that gets Pieters back on track. A win in 2015 and runner-up in 2016 are definite positives. A T9 last year showed that he can maneuver around Albatross. He hasn’t had a top-10 since March, which is cause for concern. However, he’s loaded with potential, has shown glimpses earlier, and absolutely chews up this layout. He also carries some value at his current price.
Eddie Pepperell +1100
It’s such a cliché to go with the batting favorite, and Pepperell is at the top of the list. The numbers suggest the field is wide open and catching the fave at 11/1 offers a nice return. He’s another player who shines at Albatross with top-5s in 2014 and 2017. Playing for a Ryder Cup spot last year, Pepperell was T9. His best puts him in line for nice results, however we haven’t seen that lately. Back on the Euro circuit at a course he enjoys will get Pepperell right.
Andrea Pavan +2000
Pavan lit up Albatross last year with a tournament record -22 for his first Euro Tour triumph. He added another at the BMW International in June while securing a top-4 at the Scottish Open and a top-25 at the PGA Tour Barracuda Open. So why is Pavan offered at such a good price? Well, he’s missed four of his last seven cuts, so if you’re throwing down on him hope the good Pavan shows up this week.
Lee Slattery +4500
Albatross isn’t an easy course so finding players who excel on this track are certainly worth taking a look at. Slattery fits into that category after a T4 and runner-up the last two years. One bad round in each tournament doomed him, but he showed mastery over the track with five total rounds at or below 68, including a pair of 65s. Consistency has been an issue with the Englishman, but he had his two best finishes of the year in his last two events giving him some confidence on a course that’s treated him well.
Scott Jamieson +5000
In a field void of clear-cut favorites a nice payday is waiting further down the odds board. And doing that brought me to Jamieson, who corralled a pair of top-10s here. Closing with a 64 lifted him to T9 in his debut. He followed that with four solid rounds of 70 or lower last year for a share of fourth. Recent form is decent with a T26 at the Scottish Open and a T15 at the Andalucia Masters. However, a MC in between those starts was his sixth in 15 starts this season.
Course: Albatross Golf Resort – 7,467 yards, Par 72
The course had a makeover ahead of last year’s event with several water hazards now in play. The biggest change, though, came to the final hole. Water guards the left side of the fairway all the way to the green, which could make for some nervous moments during the last round. Overall it’s a basic course that plays nearly 7,500 yards with the standard number of par 5s. Those four holes are important with the first two winners leading the field in par 5 scoring. Last year’s champ Pavan played them at 11-under. Those who played here last year will see the same layout. The Czech Federation said no changes were made to the course for this week’s playing.
