The sixth installment of the Rolex Series gets underway this week as the European Tour season winds to a close. With the Race to Dubai heating up, the field comes together at the Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort in Antalya for the Turkish Airlines Open with plenty of money and lots of points up for grabs. European Ryder Cup teammates Justin Rose ( +425 ), Tommy Fleetwood ( +705 ) and Thorbjorn Olesen ( +1250 ) headline the field as the top betting favorites at BookMaker.eu. They are also involved in some intriguing matchups that we’ll take a look at.

Need To Know
Outside of the top three betting favorites, the field is wide open. Rose is the defending champ and as the odds indicate, he is the man to beat. The course isn’t daunting and it’s set up more for a casual round of golf than a Rolex Series event, which makes it interesting that more high profile players aren’t involved to take advantage of a lucrative payout. There is some water around a few holes, but nothing that will scare the players. The fairways are forgiving and the greens are big. It’s better to be good in every phase of the game rather than great in one on this course. With favorable conditions expected, we should see plenty of birdies and low scores with a -20 the range for the winner.
Turkish Airlines Open Matchup Picks
Lucas Herbert -105 vs. Matt Wallace
Blistering hot in his last three starts, the only thing missing off Herbert’s resume is a tournament victory. He led the Portugal Masters after 54 holes before a final-round 71 pushed him into a tie for second at 19-under. Followed that with a T7 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship where he didn’t score higher than 70. He grabbed a share of third at the British Masters in his last start leaving him in fine form for this event. He’s new to the course, but the straightforward layout shouldn’t pose a problem. Wallace’s inconsistent play lately leaves us taking Herbert on the short odds.
Nicolas Colsaerts -105 vs. Martin Kaymer
Colsaerts has some unfinished business at this event and recent form suggests he might be able to take care of it. He finished second here last year, opening with a pair 64s on the first two days and was in line for the title if not for a 73 on Saturday. He completed the tourny with a 66 to finish one swing behind Rose. A strong 8-under at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship suggested Colsaerts was getting his game back. However, he withdrew after the first round of the British Masters, though there are no reported problems.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat +105 vs. Haotong Li
Aphibarnrat knows the layout well and he’s had success here, more so than Li, and that’s why I like the Thai in this head-to-head matchup. He grabbed a T6 here last year and was T25 the year before that giving him a strong track record. Couple that with a solid share of fourth at the WGC-HSBC Champions last week with an 8-under and I’ll take my chances against a heavy ball-striker but inconsistent short game player.
Matthew Southgate +105 vs. Andrew Johnston
We’re banking on one of Southgate’s favorite courses doing him a solid this week. He tied for 58th at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters his last time out and was T22 at the British Masters despite a pair 76s. Made his course debut here in 2016 closing with a 67-68 for a share of 31st and followed that 12 months later shooting 69-65-69-69 for a share of 11th. Six consecutive sub-70 rounds here are hard to overlook.
