The UK Swing comes to an end this week when the European Tour assembles at The Belfry for the one-off ISPS Handa UK Championship. It’s been a wacky adjustment on the schedule thanks to COVID, but the six-tournament march through the United Kingdom will conclude with its best field yet. A number of players are returning after competing on the PGA Tour side, significantly enhancing the player pool. Matthias Schwab and Haotong Li have emerged as the betting favorites, but with a strong field there are a number of intriguing matchup possibilities. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of tournament matchup odds for the UK Championship when you’re ready to place a wager.

Need to Know
The championship 7,253-yard, par-72 Brabazon Course is one of three at The Belfry and will be used this week. The layout hosted the Ryder Cup four times as well as 16 Euro Tour events with the 2008 British Masters being the most recent, so it will be new to most of the players. The layout is flat with numerous hazards. Strategically placed bunkers are all over the lot with lakes and streams making their way through the property. Navigating the par 4 holes will be crucial with 12 of them on the scorecard. Players will be tested with an emphasis on accuracy and putting. The previous three winners at The Belfry were -11, -15 and -12, so don’t look for low scores.
ISPS Handa UK Championship Matchup Picks
Marcus Kinhult +115 vs. Victor Perez
It’s hard to go against Perez in this matchup since he’s been one of the most consistent players on Tour since the restart. However, Kinhult showed me something last week by bouncing back from his disastrous showing at the PGA Championship with a strong T15 at the Wales Open. He was consistent all week in less than ideal conditions and I think his confidence is at level that helped him secure 10 top-10s last season. I’m always looking for value in matchups and Kinhult offers plenty.
Haotong Li +120 vs. Gavin Green
Backing Li last week was a profitable move and I’m going back to the well. Since the restart he’s gotten progressively better with several events on the PGA Tour. Most notable was his T17 at Harding Park where he held the lead after 36 holes. He faded a bit to finish T17 using that as a springboard to solid T8 at last week’s Wales Open. Much like the PGA Championship it was bad third round that dropped him out of contention. I expect Li to put it all together and not only win this matchup but contend for the title as well.
Bernd Wiesberger -115 vs. Danny Willett
I made bank on Wiesberger last year in matchups and I’m ready to throw down on him again despite some shaky results. He hasn’t fared well when venturing to the PGA Tour side and this year was no different. But the experience can only improve his game. He survived the cut in his last three starts with a best finish of T26 at the 3M Open. I’m counting on a return to the ET turning things around for him. He was a three-time winner last season and he didn’t become a bad golfer overnight.
Rasmus Hojgaard +115 vs. Matt Wallace
The betting markets have caught up with Hojgaard, who emerged as the favorite on the betting line. Grabbing him at plus-odds in this matchup looks like a steal. The Dane has done everything but win since the restart, taking runner-up at the British Masters and solo third last week. In between he was T6 at the Hero Open. He also snared a T6 at the Oman Open before the lockdown. He’s in fine form entering the week which is why I had to grab him at his current price.
Martin Kaymer -110 vs. Jordan Smith
I’m not sure what’s going on with Kaymer. He’s made just two starts since the reboot both on the PGA Tour missing the cut each time. He had a long layoff and maybe he just needs to play. He showed what he’s capable of with a first round 66 at the PGA Championship only to be sent home early with a second round 82. He’s a two-time Major winner and former world No. 1 so I’m not ready to give up on him yet.
